Javier Montes
Javier Montes (Madrid, 1976) is a Spanish writer. He won the José María de Pereda Award with ''Los penúltimos'', his first novel. With ''La ceremonia del porno'', he won the Anagrama Essay Award, together with Andrés Barba. In 2010, ''Granta'' magazine included him in its selection of the best young writers in Spanish. He has written for ''El País'', ''Granta'', ''Artforum'' and ''The Literary Hub'', and his work has been recognized with the Civitella Ranieri Fellowship, the Leonardo Scholarship from the BBVA Foundation, and a stint as writer-in-residence at MALBA The Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires ( es, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, MALBA) is a museum located on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, in the Palermo section of Buenos Aires. José María De Pereda
José María de Pereda (born 6 February 1833, Polanco, Cantabria – died 1 March 1906, Polanco) was a modern Spanish novelist, and a Member of the Royal Spanish Academy. Life Pereda was educated at the Institute Cántabro of Santander, whence he went in 1852 to Madrid, where he studied with the vague purpose of entering the artillery corps. Abandoning this design after three years' trial, he returned home and began his literary career by contributing articles to a local journal, ''La Abeja montañesa'' in 1858. He also wrote much in a weekly paper''El Tío Cayetano'' and in 1864 he collected his powerful realistic sketches of local life and manners under the title of ''Escenas montañesas'' (''Mountain scenes''). Andrés Barba
Andrés Barba (Madrid, 1975) is a Spanish writer and translator graduated in Hispanic Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid, with a degree in Philosophy. He has taught at Bowdoin College, the Complutense University of Madrid and Princeton University. In 2003 he was a resident at the Spanish Academy in Rome. In 2004 he stayed at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. In 2016 he was invited by the British Council and Queen Mary University of London for a fellowship and in 2018 he received the prestigious Cullman Center Fellowship from the New York Public Library. As a translator he is responsible for more than thirty versions, mostly into Spanish, of authors such as Joseph Conrad, Henry James, Herman Melville, Thomas De Quincey, Lewis Carroll, Rebecca West, Allen Ginsberg, J.R. MALBA
The Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires ( es, Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, MALBA) is a museum located on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue, in the Palermo section of Buenos Aires.
