Javier Guerrero García
Javier Guerrero García (born 20 October 1958) is a Mexican politician affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). He represented Coahuila and the second electoral region as a deputy in the LXIII Legislature of the Mexican Congress. Life Guerrero García's lengthy political career began when he joined the PRI in 1979, after he graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila with a degree in political science and public administration. After obtaining a master's degree from the National Public Administration Institute (INAP) in 1981, he briefly served as the institution's president in 1982 before beginning a lengthy public service and party career. San Pedro, Coahuila
San Pedro (formally: San Pedro de las Colonias) is a city located in the southwestern part of the state of Coahuila in Mexico. San Pedro lies east-northeast of the city of Torreón and serves as the seat of the San Pedro Municipality, Coahuila, surrounding municipality of the same name. In the 2005 INEGI Census the city had a population of 43,447 inhabitants, while the municipality had a population of 93,377. The municipality has a large area of 9,942.7 km² (3,838.9 sq mi), which includes many smaller outlying communities, the largest of which is the town of Concordia (La Rosita). Pasta De Conchos Mine Disaster
The Pasta de Conchos mine disaster occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. CST on February 19, 2006, after a methane explosion within a coal mine near Nueva Rosita, San Juan de Sabinas municipality, in the Mexican state of Coahuila. The mines were run by Grupo México, the largest mining company in the country. It was estimated that 65 miners, who were working the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. shift that morning, were trapped underground by the explosion. Only 2 of the 65 bodies have been recovered. Background There have been conflicting reports regarding the depth at which the miners were trapped. The National Mining and Metal Workers Union (SNTMMSRM) stated that the trapped miners were approximately below ground, via a mile-long horizontal shaft. Grupo México released a statement saying that the miners were about below ground when the explosion occurred. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Etymology The word comes from the ''Academy'' in ancient Greece, which derives from the Athenian hero, ''Akademos''. Outside the city walls of Athens, the gymnasium was made famous by Plato as a center of learning. The sacred space, dedicated to the goddess of wisdom, Athena, had formerly been an olive grove, hence the expression "the groves of Academe". In these gardens, the philosopher Plato conversed with followers. Plato developed his sessions into a method of teaching philosophy and in 387 BC, established what is known today as the Old Academy.
