Jaureguiberry is a village and resort of the Costa de Oro in the Canelones Department of southern Uruguay. Geography Location It is located about east of Montevideo between the resort Argentino and the Arroyo Solís Grande. Population In 2011 Jaureguiberry had a population of 458. Etymology The village is named after its founder Miguel Jaureguiberry, who resided there until his death in 1951. Uruguay consists of 19 departments (''departamentos''). Each department has a legislature called a Departmental Board. The ''Intendente'' is the department's chief executive. History The first division of the Republic into six departments occurred on 27 January 1816. In February of the same year, two more departments were formed, and in 1828 one more was added. When the First Constitution was signed in 1830, there were nine departments. The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications. Previously in Uruguay, phone numbers used to have between 4 and 7 digits. To make a local phone call, you only had to dial those digits. To make a call between two cities from different departments, you had to dial zero, plus area code, plus phone number. Costa De Oro
Costa de Oro is a long group of resort towns and beaches in Canelones Department, Uruguay, east of the Ciudad de la Costa.National Statistical Institute
Document of the INE differentiating between Costa de Oro and Ciudad de la Costa and referring to a small difference with the Cartography Department which does not include Country Villa Juana in Costa de Oro (see footnote). Until 19 October 1994 it also included all the resorts that became henceforth integrated under the name Ciudad de la Costa.
