''Vin jaune'' (French language, French for "yellow wine") is a special and characteristic type of white wine made in the Jura (wine), Jura region in eastern France. It is similar to dry fino Sherry and gets its character from being matured in a barrel under a film of yeast (wine), yeast, known as the ''voile'', on the wine's surface. ''Vin jaune'' shares many similarities with Sherry, including some aromas (wine), aromas, but unlike Sherry, it is not a fortified wine. Jaune Quick-to-See Smith (born 1940) is a Native American visual artist and curator. She is an enrolled member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and is also of Métis and Shoshone descent. She is also an art educator, art advocate, and political activist. She has been prolific in her long career, and her work draws from a Native worldview and comments on American Indian identity, histories of oppression, and environmental issues. Oda Jaune (born Michaela Danowska, Michaela Danovska, bg, Михаела Дановска; 13 November 1979 in Sofia, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian painter. From 1998 to 2003, she studied in the class of Jörg Immendorff at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 2012, she won the Pierre Cardin Prize in the category "Best Painter". In 2003, the second prize of the Emprise Art Award. Personal life Jaune married in July 2000 her professor Jörg Immendorff and had a daughter on 13 August 2001. It was her husband Immendorff who invented the pseudonym Oda Jaune. Pierre Bostonais or Pierre Hastination (died 1828), better known as Tête Jaune, was an Iroquois (Haudenosaunee)-Métis trapper, fur trader, and explorer who worked for the North West Company and Hudson's Bay Company during the 18th and 19th centuries. His nickname means 'yellow head' in French and was given to him because of his blond hair. The name ''Bostonais'' (French for 'Boston man') refers to his probable American origin: First Nations people applied that name to American traders. In the early 19th century, Pierre crossed the Rocky Mountains by the pass that would later bear his name. He led a brigade of Hudson's Bay men through the same pass in December 1819 to encounter the Secwepemc people. ''Jaune'' is an album by Jean-Pierre Ferland, released in 1970. Considered an enduring classic of Canadian and Quebec music, the album was named the 71st greatest Canadian album of all time in Bob Mersereau's 2007 book ''The Top 100 Canadian Albums''. It was the only francophone album from Quebec named to the list besides the three studio albums by Harmonium. In 2005 Ferland released a 35th anniversary box set version of the album, which included the original album, new recordings of the album's songs by Ferland himself, an audio DVD including a surround sound remastering of the album, and a disc including covers of the album's songs by musicians such as Ariane Moffatt, Champion, Montag, Sixtoo, Kid Loco and Carl Bastien.
