Jaú is a municipality in the center of the state of São Paulo (state), São Paulo, in Brazil. The population is 151,881 (2020 est.) in an area of . The elevation is . The city takes its name from the native fish species ''Gilded catfish, jau''. History The history of the city goes back to 1853, when a group of people decided to settle and found a village. Not until 1889, however, did it achieve the status of town. The Jaú National Park ( pt, Parque Nacional do Jaú) is a National park (Brazil), national park located in the state of Amazonas State, Brazil, Amazonas, Brazil. It is one of the largest forest reserve in South America, and part of a World Heritage Site. Location The name "Jaú" comes from that of one of the largest fish in Brazil, the gilded catfish or jau (''Zungaro zungaro''), after which the main river of the park is named. Campbell County Airport is a county-owned, public-use airport located east of the central business district of Jacksboro, a town in Campbell County, Tennessee, United States. This airport is included in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a ''general aviation'' facility. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA and International Air Transport Association, IATA, this airport is assigned JAU by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA (which assigned JAU to Jauja, Peru). Indian Units Of Measurement
Before the introduction of the Metric system, one may divide the history of Indian systems of measurement into three main periods: the pre-Akbar's period, the period of the Akbar system, and the British colonial period. During pre-Akbar period, weights and measure system varied from region to region, commodity to commodity, and rural to urban areas. The weights were based on the weight of various seeds (specially the wheat berry and Ratti) and lengths were based on the length of arms and width of fingers. Akbar realized a need for a uniform system. He elected the barley corn. This did not replace the existing system. Instead, it just added another system. British entered India as traders. They accepted barley corn as a unit 'grain' for weighing gold. Eventually, British introduced their own system for weighing gold (Troy ounce). The gilded catfish or ''jau'' (''Zungaro zungaro'') is a South American catfish (order Siluriformes) of the family Pimelodidae. It is also known as ''manguruyu'' or black manguruyu. Taxonomy By some sources, it is the only species of the monotypic genus ''Zungaro''. However, some sources list other species as valid, such as ''Zungaro jahu''. This species may be referred to by one of its synonyms, ''Brachyplatystoma flavicans''. This species contains two subspecies, ''Z. z. mangurus'' and ''Z. z. zungaro''.
