Jasper United
Jasper United were a Nigerian football club based in the city of Onitsha. Founded by Jude Ezechukwu in July 1991 under the name Premier Breweries FC, they were founding member of the Professional League second division. After changing the name to "Jasper United" in 1994, the team won promotion to the First Division in 1995. Their next two seasons were the best in team history. The placed second in both 1996 and 1997, missing the title by goal difference and a single point. Both times they qualified for the CAF Cup the next year, reaching the semis in 1997. That was the highlight of the team as they slowly slid down the table the next few years. In 2001, they were banished to Minna after crowd violence against rival Enyimba F.C. Onitsha ( or just ''Ọ̀nị̀chà'') is a city located on the eastern bank of the Niger River, in Anambra State, Nigeria. A metropolitan city, Onitsha is known for its river port and as an economic hub for commerce, industry, and education. The Nigerian National League (formerly known as ''National Division 1'') is the second tier of club football in Nigeria. History From 1997-2011, the league has been split into 1A for Northern teams and 1B for southern teams. The top two from each division are promoted to the Nigerian Premier League the next season. The CAF Cup was an annual competition organised by the CAF for domestic leagues runners-up of member associations who have not qualified to the pre-existing CAF international club competition the African Cup of Champions Clubs. Aba is a city in the southeast of Nigeria and the commercial center of Abia State. Upon the creation of Abia state in 1991, Aba was divided into two local government areas namely; Aba South and Aba North. Bendel United F.C. (formerly Flash Flamingoes and Esan F.C.) is a Nigerian football club based in Uromi, Edo State. They are the current incarnation of a team whose roots go back to Flash Flamingoes F.C. History In the shadows of other Benin City teams such as Bendel Insurance and New Nigeria Bank, Rubber Board football club was founded in the early 1980s. Ivo von Sajh-Scheich (born on 21 January 1953 in Ljubljana), is a Slovenian and Yugoslavian former football (soccer), football player who last worked as the head coach of Tuvalu national football team.
