Jason Chandler Williams (born November 18, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player who was a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for twelve seasons during the late 1990s and 2000s. In 2006, Williams won an NBA championship as the starting point guard for the Miami Heat. Due to his style of play, he was given the nickname "White Chocolate." A native of West Virginia, Williams played college basketball for Marshall University and the University of Florida. The Sacramento Kings selected him in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft. He also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic throughout his career. The Heat named Williams one of their top 25 players of all time in 2007. Career Williams began his career with Southend United and made his professional debut coming on for Michael Timlin on 15 February 2014 in a 3–2 defeat against Exeter City. In October 2014 Williams joined Chelmsford City initially on a one-month loan deal, which was later extended, where he was in impressive form, scoring five goals in seven league games. Williams returned on loan to Chelmsford City in January 2016 as one of interim manager Kevin Maher's first two signings, the other being fellow Southend United teammate Jack Bridge. From 2014 to 2021, Williams served as the Second Division Councilmember-at-large on the New Orleans City Council. In his senior year of 1996–97, Williams was named to Prince George's County's 3A/2A First Team and also to the Washington, D.C. all-metro area fourth team. Williams went on to play college basketball at Radford University from 1997 to 2001.
