King Of RPGs
''King of RPGs'' is an American graphic novel about roleplaying written by Jason Thompson and drawn by Victor Hao. Development Thompson first submitted the idea to Tokyopop's '' Rising Stars of Manga'' contest in 2004, and was inspired by '' Hikaru no Go'' and '' Knights of the Dinner Table''. Hao's artistic influences are ''Dragon Ball'', '' Slam Dunk'', and role-playing video games from the Super NES era. Reception Carlo Santos, writing for Anime News Network, enjoyed the writing and "passion" that Thompson brought to the work, and the diversity of the characters. Melinda Beasi felt the characters, while over-the-top, were "grounded in just enough reality to ring true". Graphic Novel
A graphic novel is a long-form, fictional work of sequential art. The term ''graphic novel'' is often applied broadly, including fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work, though this practice is highly contested by comic scholars and industry professionals. It is, at least in the United States, typically distinct from the term ''comic book'', which is generally used for comics periodicals and trade paperbacks (see American comic book). Fan historian Richard Kyle coined the term ''graphic novel'' in an essay in the November 1964 issue of the comics fanzine ''Capa-Alpha''. The term gained popularity in the comics community after the publication of Will Eisner's '' A Contract with God'' (1978) and the start of the ''Marvel Graphic Novel'' line (1982) and became familiar to the public in the late 1980s after the commercial successes of the first volume of Art Spiegelman's '' Maus'' in 1986, the collected editions of Frank Miller's '' The Dark Knight Returns'' in 1986 and Alan ...

Cameo Appearance
A cameo role, also called a cameo appearance and often shortened to just cameo (), is a brief appearance of a well-known person in a work of the performing arts. These roles are generally small, many of them non-speaking ones, and are commonly either appearances in a work in which they hold some special significance (such as actors from an original movie appearing in its remake) or renowned people making uncredited appearances. Short appearances by celebrities, film directors, politicians, athletes or musicians are common. A crew member of the movie or show playing a minor role can be referred to as a cameo role as well, such as Alfred Hitchcock's frequent cameos. Concept Originally, in the 1920s, a "cameo role" meant "a small character part that stands out from the other minor parts". The ''Oxford English Dictionary'' connects this with the meaning "a short literary sketch or portrait", which is based on the literal meaning of " cameo", a miniature carving on a gemstone. The Comics Journal
''The Comics Journal'', often abbreviated ''TCJ'', is an American magazine of news and criticism pertaining to comic books, comic strips and graphic novels. Known for its lengthy interviews with comic creators, pointed editorials and scathing reviews of the products of the mainstream comics industry, the magazine promotes the view that comics are a fine art, meriting broader cultural respect, and thus should be evaluated with higher critical standards. History In 1976, Gary Groth and Michael Catron acquired ''The Nostalgia Journal'', a small competitor of the newspaper adzine '' The Buyer's Guide for Comics Fandom''. At the time, Groth and Catron were already publishing ''Sounds Fine'', a similarly formatted adzine for record collectors that they had started after producing Rock 'N Roll Expo '75, held during the July 4 weekend in 1975 in Washington, D.C.
