Jason Pryor
Jason Pryor (born September 26, 1987) is an American épée fencer. He earned two individual bronze medals and a team gold medal at the Pan American Fencing Championships in 2014 and 2015, as well as an individual bronze medal and a team silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games. He represented the United States in épée at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Biography Pryor's first sport was soccer. He took up fencing when he was 11 after hearing about the sport from a friend. He was taught by coach Bill Reith at the Alcazar Fencing Club. He was later recruited by the Ohio State University, winning a team title in his junior year and earning twice All-American honors. In 2009 he graduated with a degree in English, hoping to pursue a career as a writer. As a graduation present his parents paid for his travel expenses to the Rio de Janeiro Grand Prix, his first international competition, where he was scouted by USA Fencing. The World Fencing Championships is an annual competition in fencing organized by the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime (FIE; ''International Fencing Federation'' in English). Contestants may participate in Foil (fencing), foil, épée, and Sabre (fencing), sabre events. History The FIE first organized an international fencing championship in Paris, France in 1921. This article details the qualifying phase for fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics The fencing competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro took place from 6 to 14 August at the Carioca Arena 3 inside the Barra Olympic Park in Barra da Tijuca. Around 212 fencers (an equal distribution between men and women; of wh .... Qualification was primarily based on the FIE Official Ranking as of April 4, 2016, with further individual places available at 4 zonal qualifying tournaments. For the team events, 8 teams qualified in each event. Each team must be composed of 3 fencers. The top 4 ranked teams qualified. James Alfred Moody (27 February 1941 – 1 June 1993) was an English gangster and hitman whose career spanned more than four decades and included run-ins with Jack Spot, Billy Hill, "Mad" Frankie Fraser, the Krays, the Richardsons and the Provisional IRA. Described by police detectives as "extremely professional" and "extremely intimidating", Moody's speciality was robbing armoured trucks and he used a chainsaw to saw through the side of security vehicles. Moody was born to a mother who was a wartime evacuee from Camberwell, London. His father was killed during World War II after his ship was torpedoed by a German U-boat.
