Jason P. Miller
Jason Peter Miller (born November 23, 1983) is an American mathematician, specializing in probability theory. After graduating from Okemos High School, Miller matriculated in 2002 at the University of Michigan, where he graduated in 2006 with a B.S. with joint majors in mathematics, computer science, and economics. In 2006 he became a graduate student in mathematics at Stanford University. In 2011 he graduated there with a PhD supervised by Amir Dembo with dissertation ''Limit theorems for Ginzburg-Landau \nabla \phi random surfaces ''. Miller was a summer intern in 2009 at Microsoft Research and in 2010 at D.E. Shaw & Co. He was a postdoctoral researcher from September 2010 to July 2012 at Microsoft and from July 2012 to July 2015 (as a Schramm Fellow and a NSF Fellow) at MIT's department of mathematics, where he worked with Scott Sheffield. Okemos High School
Okemos High School is a public high school in Okemos, Michigan, United States. It is the only high school in the Okemos Public Schools district. It is located southeast of the main campus of Michigan State University, between Bennett and Jolly Roads on the North and South, and Hulett and Hagadorn Roads on the East and West. The current building was completed in 1994, replacing the now Chippewa Middle School building as the district's high school. Former students of Chippewa 7-8 School comprise the school's student body. The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is an association of professional mathematicians dedicated to the interests of mathematical research and scholarship, and serves the national and international community through its publications, meetings, advocacy and other programs. The society is one of the four parts of the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics and a member of the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences. Whitehead Prize
The Whitehead Prize is awarded yearly by the London Mathematical Society to multiple mathematicians working in the United Kingdom who are at an early stage of their career. The prize is named in memory of homotopy theory pioneer J. H. C. Whitehead. More specifically, people being considered for the award must be resident in the United Kingdom on 1 January of the award year or must have been educated in the United Kingdom. Also, the candidates must have less than 15 years of work at the postdoctorate level and must not have received any other prizes from the Society. Since the inception of the prize, no more than two could be awarded per year, but in 1999 this was increased to four "to allow for the award of prizes across the whole of mathematics, including applied mathematics, mathematical physics, and mathematical aspects of computer science".
