Jason Kardong
Jason Kardong is a pedal steel player based out of Seattle, Washington and is the Pedal Steel player for Sera Cahoone. Originally from outside of Moscow, Idaho, he grew up directly next door to folk artist Josh Ritter. Shortly after graduating from Washington State University (WSU) with a BS in Agriculture, he relocated to Seattle Washington. His first band after moving to Seattle was the retro western swing six piece band called Six String Eric and his Lazy Ranch Hands who performed along the West Coast opening for such acts as The Lucky Stars, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Wanda Jackson and Dave Stuckey. In 2003, he co-founded the band The Wakefields and shortly after began also playing with Sera Cahoone. Currently, he also is involved with The Beautiful Confusion, Massy Ferguson and Grand Archives. Pedal Steel
The pedal steel guitar is a console-type of steel guitar with pedals and knee levers that change the pitch of certain strings to enable playing more varied and complex music than any previous steel guitar design. Like all steel guitars, it can play unlimited glissandi (sliding notes) and deep vibrati—characteristics it shares with the human voice. Pedal steel is most commonly associated with American country music and Hawaiian music. Pedals were added to a lap steel guitar in 1940, allowing the performer to play a major scale without moving the bar and also to push the pedals while striking a chord, making passing notes slur or bend up into harmony with existing notes. Anna Coogan
Anna Coogan is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter. Biography After studying opera at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg for a year, Coogan went to Seattle to work as a limnologist. In 2012 she moved to Ithaca, New York, where she is a visiting lecturer in music at Cornell University. In 2020 she moved to The Netherlands. Recordings Anna Coogan started her musical career in Seattle, and formed the band North 19 in 2004 with Travis Beard and Kevin Burkett. She developed her "bittersweet Americana" style in this band, which released two albums and was reviewed in '' No Depression''. JD Foster produced her first solo album, ''The Nocturnal Among Us'', released in 2010. The songs on her next album, ''The Wasted Ocean'', were inspired by haunting tales of shipwrecks and isolation. Matt Costa
Matthew Albert Costa (born June 16, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter from Huntington Beach, California, United States. He has 13 independent releases: 7 self-recorded EPs, 6 complete LPs, 4 of which are released via Brushfire Records. His first album in five years, ''Santa Rosa Fangs'', was released on May 18, 2018, on Dangerbird Records. Life Matt Costa, who is of Portuguese descent, states that his father works in the airline business. In early 2003, Matt's homemade demo reached No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont, who offered to record more demos for Costa in his home studio. Jeffrey Foucault
Jeffrey Foucault (born January 26, 1976) is an American songwriter and record producer from Whitewater, Wisconsin, United States, whose work marries the influence of American country, blues, rock 'n' roll, and folk music. He has released seven full-length solo albums under his own name and two full-band lyrical collaborations with poet Lisa Olstein, under the moniker Cold Satellite. Foucault has toured extensively in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe since 2001, in both full-band and solo appearances. From 2013 through 2020, he performed as a duo with drummer Billy Conway (Morphine, Treat Her Right). Son Volt is an American rock band formed in 1994 by Jay Farrar after the breakup of Uncle Tupelo. The band's current line-up consists of Farrar (vocals, guitar), Andrew DuPlantis (bass guitar), John Horton (guitar), Mark Patterson (drums), and Mark Spencer (keyboard, steel guitar). A widow (female) or widower (male) is a person whose spouse has died. Terminology The state of having lost one's spouse to death is termed ''widowhood''. The Wakefields
The Wakefields are an alt-country band based out of Seattle Washington that was formed in 2004 as the by-product of friendships started in previous projects. In December 2004, they released a promotional EP, and soon followed with the release of a full-length CD titled '' Falling Down Blue''. The debut CD from The Wakefields featured, horns, tympani, Hammond Organ, pedal steel, percussion and accordion, all wrapped into a package of West Coast Americana music that would never be found in Nashville. '' Falling Down Blue'' contains twelve original songs and was recorded and produced by Seattle engineer Martin Feveyear who has worked with many great bands including The Presidents of the United States of America, The Minus 5 and The Village Green indie rock/country.
