Jason Hirata
Jason Hirata (born 1986, Seattle, WA) is an artist who has shown internationally. He lives and works in New York. Life and education Hirata was born in 1986. He received a BFA in photography from the University of Washington in 2009. In 2015 he received the Brink Prize for emerging artists working in the Cascadia region. In addition to making his own artwork, Hirata works as a videographer for other artists. Exhibitions Hirata was included in an exhibition at Artists' Space in 2020 where his work was unfavorably reviewed as a "slacker gesture". He had a solo show at 80WSE gallery in New York City in 2020 that consisted of work by Hannah Black, Adjua Greaves, Trajal Harrell, New Red Order & Jim Fletcherm Carissa Rodriguez and Hito Steyerl that Hirata had worked on and documentation of those artworks. Hannah Black
Hannah Black is a visual artist, critic, and writer. Her work spans video, text and performance. She is best known for her open letter written with Ciarán Finlayson and Tobi Haslett, ''The Tear Gas Biennial'', criticizing co-chair of the board of the Whitney Museum, Warren Kanders, and his toxic philanthropy which comes from selling tear gas and other weapons via Safariland. The letter prompted artists to withdraw works from the 2019 Whitney Biennial. Early life Black was born in 1981 in Manchester, England. She is currently based in New York City, though she has previously been based in Berlin and London. In 2013, Black received a Masters of Fine Arts in art writing from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Trajal Harrell
Trajal Harrell (born 1973) is an American dancer and choreographer. Best known for a series entitled ''Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church,'' Harrell "confronts the history, construction, and interpretation of contemporary dance." Carissa Rodriguez (born 1970) is an American artist who lives and works in New York City. Artistic practice Rodriguez' work investigates the relationship of the material and social conditions through which art is produced, reproduced, and consumed. Levi (; ) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the third of the six sons of Jacob and Leah (Jacob's third son), and the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Levi (the Levites, including the Kohanim) and the great-grandfather of Aaron, Moses and Miriam.
