Jason Dudley
Jason Dudley (born 10 November 1984) is an Australian former Decathlon, decathlete. Dudley was based in Queensland and coached by Eric Brown. In 2001, Dudley was a bronze medalist in the octathlon at the 2001 World Youth Championships in Athletics, 2001 World Youth Championships in Hungary. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Dudley scored 8001 points in the decathlon to finish in the bronze medal position. He had held the lead going into the final phase after setting a personal best to win the javelin event, but fell two places by only finishing fifth in the 1,500 metres race. Dudley was national champion in the decathlon in 2006 and 2008. Decathlon
The decathlon is a combined event in Athletics (sport), athletics consisting of ten track and field events. The word "decathlon" was formed, in analogy to the word "pentathlon", from Greek language, Greek δέκα (''déka'', meaning "ten") and ἄθλος (''áthlos'', or ἄθλον, ''áthlon'', meaning "contest" or “prize”). Events are held over two consecutive days and the winners are determined by the combined performance in all. Performance is judged on a points system in each event, not by the position achieved. The decathlon is contested mainly by male athletes, while female athletes typically compete in the heptathlon. Traditionally, the title of "World's Greatest Athlete" has been given to the person who wins the decathlon.
