Jason Cooper (English Musician)
Jason Toop Cooper (born 31 January 1967) is an English drummer best known for his work with The Cure. Life and work Born in London, England, Jason studied drums at London's Drumtech (where he is now a patron and visiting artist). He first came to public attention as drummer for the band My Life Story. Jason joined The Cure in 1995 following the 1993 departure of their previous drummer Boris Williams. So far, he has performed on the studio albums ''Wild Mood Swings'', ''Bloodflowers'', ''The Cure'' and '' 4:13 Dream''. He also appeared in three concert films, ''Trilogy'', '' Festival 2005'' and Anniversary 2018. In March of 2020 he planned a 3 city tour but was later canceled by Covid-19 Jason also composes music for film, most notably co-creating the score for the horror/thriller '' From Within'', for which he and co-composer Oliver Kraus won the award for Best Original Score at the 2008 Solstice Film Festival. ''Greatest Hits'' is a greatest hits album by English rock band the Cure. It was first released in Japan on 7 November 2001, before being released in the UK and Europe on 12 November and then in the US the day after. The band's relationship with longtime label Fiction Records came to a close, and the Cure were obliged to release one final album for the label. Lead singer Robert Smith agreed to release a greatest hits album under the condition that he could choose the tracks himself. The band also recorded a special studio album released as a bonus disc to some versions of the album. The disc, titled ''Acoustic Hits'', consists of the eighteen songs from the North American release re-recorded using acoustic instruments. History ''Greatest Hits'' features select singles from the Cure's then-25 year history, along with the two new tracks "Cut Here" and "Just Say Yes". Release ''Galore'' was first released in the US on 28 October 1997 by record label Elektra. It was then released in the UK and Europe by Fiction on 3 November. It spans the singles from the second part of the Cure's career, beginning with their seventh album ''Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me'' and ending with their tenth album ''Wild Mood Swings''. ''From Within'' is a horror film directed by Phedon Papamichael Jr. and written by Brad Keene. Filming took place in Maryland in fall 2007. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April–May 2008. Plot Teenaged Natalie Wilburn sits with her boyfriend Sean as he reads from a black book. He finishes reading, kisses her passionately, then pulls out a gun and commits suicide. ''Festival 2005'' is a live DVD by The Cure released in late 2006. It was shot during the band's headlining shows at 9 European music festivals in the summer of 2005.
