Jason Chery
Jason Leon Chery (born May 31, 1985) is a former American football wide receiver in the Arena Football League for the Tampa Bay Storm. He was also a member of the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Early years Chery was born in Boynton Beach and moved to Haiti as a child, returning to Delray Beach when he was 9 years old. He attended Spanish River Community High School. He lettered in football, track and wrestling. As a junior, he registered 1,375 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. As a senior, he rushed for 1,789 yards and 28 touchdowns. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. United Football League (2009–2012)
The United Football League (UFL) was a professional American football minor league based in the United States that began play in October 2009 and played four seasons, the final one being cut short in October 2012. Practice Squad
In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round.
