Jasmar Cassar
Jas Rolyn is a Maltese singer and songwriter. While highlighting his androgynous style, he has been performing locally and in Italy since his early teenage years. Early life Rolyn (who is previously known as Jasmar Cassar) was born on 14 October 1998 in Pieta, Malta. Rolyn was raised by his mother. He skipped most of his secondary school years but later in life completed post-secondary at ''GEM16+''. Career Jas competed in Malta's Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 for the first time with his Maltese song "Id-Dinja Tieghi". He came back to Malta's Junior Eurovision in 2010, when he competed in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010. He performed a ballad-pop track song called "My Star" where he classified in the ninth place. In 2013, Rolyn competed abroad in the Italian festival '' Sanremo'', where he placed second. Sanremo (; lij, Sanrémmo(ro) or , ) or San Remo is a city and comune on the Mediterranean coast of Liguria, in northwestern Italy. L-Għanja Tal-Poplu
L-Għanja tal-Poplu (People's Ode Song Contest) is a popular Maltese song competition first organized by Youth Travel Circle (YTC) on 5 May 1973 at the St. Albert College in Valletta. The founder of YTC is Rev. Maurice Mifsud. Initially the contest had to register as YTC members. From 1987 onward, the contest took a national dimension. The competing songs are sung primarily in Maltese and are written either by the singers themselves or other songwriters. In the 1990s the contest started being transmitted on local television stations. This contest is today organised by the voluntary organisation L-Għanja tal-Poplu and is slso supported by Arts Council Malta. At present the competition is being organised in mid-summer in Pjazza Teatru Rjal with all the songs being accompanied by the Malta Concert Orchestra. Matthew "Matt" Mercieca (born 19 July 1990), known professionally as Muxu, is a Maltese singer and songwriter. Having multiple number one singles, and winning local awards, he is one of Malta's leading R&B artists. Career Mercieca started his career, as a song writer co writing with Maltese producer Jay Omaro. In 2008, he released his first single "Beat My Drum" which made it to the number one spot on the Maltese charts. It led him to being nominated "Best Newcomer" at the 2008 Bay Music Awards. In 2009, he was signed to the UK label play records but was dropped after a year citing 'artistic differences'. "Still Missing You" featuring Local singer and known DJ Talitha was released in late October 2009 and brought Mercieca back to the stage in Malta. Cantagiro
Cantagiro was an Italian summer song contest held from 1962 to 1972 and 1990 to 1993. It featured three categories, A for famous artists, B for newcomers and C for groups. The creator of the competition was Ezio Radaelli. The name of the festival was a reference to the bicycle race Giro d'Italia, and, as the Giro, Cantagiro was organized as a stage race consisting of eleven or twelve daily stages, each set in a different city. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was the eighth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Minsk, Belarus. It was held on 20 November 2010. The contest was won by Vladimir Arzumanyan from Armenia with the song Mama. This gave Armenia its first Junior Eurovision victory and its first victory in any Eurovision contest. Location The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) invited broadcasters to bid for the rights to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2010. Belarus broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BRTC) won the rights to organise the contest over bids from Russia and Malta. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the sixth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is the world's largest song contest for children. It was held at the "Spyros Kyprianou" Athletic Centre in Lemesos, Cyprus and hosted by Alex Michael and Sophia Paraskeva. The theme of the event was "Fun in the Sun", despite the fact that there were thunderstorms in Lemesos the day of the contest. It was won by the Georgian trio Bzikebi, with the song "Bzz..". Ukraine took 2nd place and Lithuania finished 3rd. Bzikebi also became the first group act to win Junior Eurovision. For the contest, various changes to the rules were made. Pietà, Malta
Pietà ( mt, Tal-Pietà) is a small town in the Central Region of Malta, located near the outskirts of the capital city Valletta. Pietà is the suburb next-closest to the capital after Floriana. Its name is derived from Italian and signifies "Mercy." Etymology The name of Pietà in Italian means Mercy. Description Malta's former national hospital, St. Luke's, is located in Tal-Pietà. Tal-Pietà is a coastal town, and an old boathouse of notable historic interest (now in use as a restaurant) is located on the waterfront. The town is named after a Church of Our Lady of Sorrows dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries which is still in active use today.
