Jashn-e-Adab
Jashn-e-Adab (Sahityotsav) is a society for poetry and literature which has been established in 2012 to promote and preserve the literary heritage of Hindi and Urdu language through ‘Jashn-e-Adab poetry festival’. The aim of these festivals is to celebrate and cherish the indigenous cultural heritage through Mushairas- poetry symposiums, Ghazal singing, Daastangoi-conventional way of story telling, Plays, Bait-bazi, Kathak dance, Qwwali etc. These festivals have lined up acclaimed writers, poets, theater artists, singers, scholars, journalists and critics from across the globe and generations, and has provided platform to fresh litterateurs along with luminaries. Mushaira
''Mushaira'' ( ur, , Mušā'ira) is a poetic symposium. It is an event (called ''mehfil'', Mushairi) where poets gather to perform their works. A mushaira is part of the Culture of North India, Pakistan and the Deccan, particularly among the Hyderabadi Muslims, and it regarded as a forum for free self-expression. Etymology According to Oxford English Dictionary; Urdu word ''Mushaira'' comes from an Arabic word “mušā'ara” meaning “vying poetry”. Ali Fazal (born 15 October 1986) is an Indian actor and model who primarily appears in Hindi films. He made his screen debut with a small role in the English language film ''The Other End of the Line'' before appearing in the American television miniseries ''Bollywood Hero''. Thomas Beach Alter (22 June 1950 – 29 September 2017) was an Indian actor. He was best known for his works in Hindi cinema, and Indian theatre. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India. Rahat Indori
Rahat Indori, born as Rahat Qureshi, (1 January 1950 – 11 August 2020) was an Indian Bollywood lyricist and Urdu poet. He was also a former professor of Urdu language and a painter. Prior to this he was a pedagogist of Urdu literature at DAVV. Biography Indori was born on 1 January 1950, in Indore to Rafatullah Qureshi (a cloth mill worker), and his wife Maqbool Un Nisa Begum. Nida Fazli
Muqtida Hasan Nida Fazli, known as Nida Fazli (12 October 1938 – 8 February 2016), was a prominent Indian Hindi and Urdu poet, lyricist and dialogue writer. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2013 by the government of India for his contribution to literature. Shamsur Rahman Faruqi
Shamsur Rahman Faruqi (30 September 1935 – 25 December 2020) was an Indian Urdu language poet, author, critic and theorist. He is known for ushering modernism to Urdu literature. He formulated fresh models of literary appreciation that combined western principles of literary criticism and subsequently applied them to Urdu literature after adapting them to address literary aesthetics native to Arabic, Persian, and Urdu. Muzaffar Ali (born 21 October 1944) is an Indian filmmaker, fashion designer, poet, artist, cultural revivalist, and social worker. Biography Ali was born in Lucknow in 1944. Javed Akhtar (born 17 January 1945) is an Indian poet, lyricist, screenwriter and political activist. Known for his work in Hindi cinema, he has won five National Film Awards, and received the Padma Shri in 1999 and the Padma Bhushan in 2007, two of India's highest civilian honours. Gopi Chand Narang (11 February 1931 – 15 June 2022) was an Indian theorist, literary critic, and scholar who wrote in Urdu and English. His Urdu literary criticism incorporated a range of modern theoretical frameworks including stylistics, structuralism, post-structuralism, and Eastern poetics.
