Abul Khayer Jashim Uddin (known professionally as Jashim; 14 August 1950 – 8 October 1998) was a Bangladeshi film actor, producer, action director and a freedom fighter. He acted in more than 200 films and is known as the first action hero of Dhallywood. Early life and career Jashim was born at Boxnagar village in Nawabganj Upazila, Dhaka on 14 August 1950. ''Abhijan'' ( bn, অভিযান) is a 1984 Bangladeshi film starring Ilias Kanchan and Anjana Sultana opposite him. Mahfuzur Rahman Khan bagged Bangladesh National Film Awards for Best Cinematographer. The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh.
