Jaroslav Brabec
Jaroslav Brabec (27 July 1949 – 20 May 2018) was a Czech track and field athlete who competed in the shot put. He twice represented Czechoslovakia at the Summer Olympics (1972 and 1976). He was a three-time participant at the European Athletics Championships (1971, 1974 and 1978) and a three-time medallist at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, being the champion at the 1973 edition. Brabec had a personal best of in 1973. He was a 13-time national champion for Czechoslovakia, eight times outdoors and five indoors. Career Brabec was born in Litoměřice, then in Czechoslovakia, and later moved to Prague, where he joined the Dukla Prague athletics club and began competing in shot put competitions. Litoměřice
Litoměřice (; german: Leitmeritz) is a town in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 23,000 inhabitants. George Woods (athlete)
George Woods (February 11, 1943 – August 30, 2022) was an American athlete who mainly competed in the shot put. As a senior at Sikeston High School, Woods became the first Missouri high school athlete to top 60 ft (18.3 m), setting a Sikeston school record that still stands to this day. He would go on to attend Southern Illinois University. Woods competed at the 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympics. After winning the US Olympic track and field team trails in 1968, he was overtaken by fellow American shot putter Randy Matson (Texas A&M) in the Mexico City games, settling for the silver medal behind Matson’s Olympic record performance. Four years later in 1972, he again entered the games as the American Olympic trials champion and the favorite for Olympic gold. He came close, but was again denied Olympic gold. Al Feuerbach
Allan "Al" Dean Feuerbach (born January 14, 1948) is a former American track and field athlete. He competed in the shot put at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics and finished in fifth and fourth place, respectively. He missed the 1980 Games due to the boycott by the United States. He did however receive one of 461 Congressional Gold Medals created especially for the spurned athletes. On May 5, 1973, he broke Randy Matson's seven-year-old world record in the shot put by throwing 21.82 meters (71' 7") at the San Jose Invitational at San Jose State College. Just weeks later, competing in a different sport, olympic-style weight lifting, he finished first in the heavyweight division at the U.S. weightlifting championships. Remigius Machura
Remigius Machura () (born 3 July 1960 in Rychnov nad Kněžnou) is a retired shot putter who represented Czechoslovakia. His career highlights include a bronze medal at the first World Championships and a gold medal at the first World Indoor Championships. He also represented his country at the 1988 Summer Olympics where he finished fifth. His personal best put of 21.93 metres puts him 20th in the all-time performers list and he remains the Czech record holder in the event indoors and outdoors. He was banned from the sport for life in 1985 for using Stanozolol, but this ruling was overturned just two years later. After retirement, Machura openly admitted to using banned substances throughout his career. Petr Nemšovský, also spelled Peter (6 January 1943 – 11 May 2020) was a Czechoslovak triple jumper, born in Bratislava, Slovakia.
