Jared Watts
Jared Watts (born February 3, 1992) is a retired American professional soccer player who played as a defender. Career Youth career Watts spent time with North Meck SC as well as with the IMG Soccer Academy. He would attend Wake Forest University and was named first team All-Conference on 3 occasions; 2011, 2012, and 2013. Colorado Rapids Watts was drafted in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids. He made his professional debut on March 29, 2014 against Sporting Kansas City. Watts scored his first professional goal on July 11, 2015 in a 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake. In 2016, Watts was a part of the best defense in MLS and helped the Rapids finish second in the Western Conference. He would help the Rapids reach the Conference finals, where they fell to the Seattle Sounders. The USL Championship (USLC) is a professional men's soccer league in the United States that began its inaugural season in 2011. The USL is sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation (U.S. Soccer) as a Division II league since 2017, placing it under Major League Soccer (Division I) in the hierarchy. Rio Grande Valley FC, also known as RGVFC or Rio Grande Valley FC Toros, is an American semi-professional soccer team based in Edinburg, Texas operated by Lone Star, LLC. They joined the USL Championship in the 2016 season. The team served as a hybrid affiliate of the Houston Dynamo of Major League Soccer. Chris Canetti, Houston Dynamo president, called the relationship "an important and necessary step." The hybrid affiliation, a first for the USL, means that the Dynamo will be responsible for the soccer operation of the club, selecting players and coaching staff. The 2016 Colorado Rapids season was the club's 21st season of existence, and their 21st season in Major League Soccer, the top tier of the American and Canadian soccer pyramids. The 2016 season was the Rapids' most successful regular season in franchise history. During the season, the Rapids finished 2nd in the Western Conference and 2nd overall in the regular season, besting their previous best regular season finish of 3rd in the Western Conference and 4th overall in 2002.
