Jaraguá, Goiás
Jaraguá is a municipality in central Goiás state, Brazil. It is a regional center and a producer of agricultural products, clothing, and cattle. Jaraguá do Sul () is a city in the north of the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. History The city was founded on July 25, 1876, by engineer and Brazilian Army colonel Emílio Carlos Jourdan and his family. Jaraguá (district Of São Paulo)
Jaraguá (means "Grotto of the Lord", "Valley Guard" or Lord of the Valley in Ancient Tupian language) is a district located in the northwest zone of the Brazilian city of São Paulo, which became a district in 1948, in areas divided from Perus, Pirituba and the former sub-district of " Nossa Senhora do Ó". Jaraguá borders the municipalities of Osasco to the west, and Caieiras to the north. Also with the districts of Perus, Anhanguera, Brasilândia, São Domingos and Pirituba. In 1968, the former Brazilian Telephone Company (CTB) built a small building in the neighborhood to serve as a telephone center. Jaragua, Hispaniola
The cacicazgo of Jaragua, also written as ''Xaragua'', was one of the five chiefdoms in the island of Hispaniola, stretching across the southwest; delimited to the north by the cacicazgo of Marién, to the south by the Caribbean Sea, to the east by the cacicazgo of Maguana, and to the west by the Jamaica Channel. Jaragua emerged as the union of two previous cacicazgos, ''Zui'' and ''Yáquimo''. Jaragua was ruled by the cacique Bohechío. It had the largest area of the chiefdoms on the island. He had his seat at a place called Guava, near the present-day city of Léogâne, Haiti; it was divided into 26 nitaínos. The CSM/Pré-Fabricar/FME/Jaraguá (formerly known as ''Associação Desportiva Jaraguá'' and ''Malwee Futsal'') is a Brazilian futsal club from Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina. Founded on February 15, 1992, it is one of the most successful clubs of the sport in Brazil. History The club was founded on February 15, 1992, as Associação Desportiva Jaraguá. Until 2000, Jaraguá did not participate in the Liga Futsal. Since 2001 the club has been sponsored by ''Malwee Malhas''. In 2005, the club won the Liga Futsal. Malwee/Jaraguá won the Taça Brasil de Futsal five times in a row (from 2003 to 2007). In 2007, the club brought back to Brazil two Spain-based players, Lenisio and Ari. In that year, Malwee/Jaraguá won the Liga Futsal for the second time beating its rival, Joinville 11-4 in the aggregate score. Jaraguá (CPTM)
Jaraguá is a train station on CPTM Line 7-Ruby, in the district of Jaraguá in São Paulo. It is the only CPTM station that has platforms built in different locations. The station is split in two by Estrada de Taipas. This way, the level crossing is open faster for the local traffic and avoid delays. History The station was opened by São Paulo Railway on 1 October 1891, named ''Taipas''. In the 1940s, it was renamed to ''Jaraguá'' because of a telegraph post that was next to the station with the same name. The located in the Km 95 of the SP-1452 road. In 1947, SPR lines were incorporated to the public state company Estrada de Ferro Santos-Jundiaí (EFSJ). Besides many federal administrations, the station didn't go through any improvements, as in the 1970s and 1980s the lines were getting more abandoned. Jaragua National Park
Jaragua National Park ( es, Parque Nacional Jaragua) is a national park of the Dominican Republic. Jaragua National Park is located in the Pedernales Province in the extreme southwest of the Dominican Republic. Jaragua National Park has a total area of 1374 km² (905 km² of which are marine), making it the largest protected area in the Caribbean region. Geography Jaragua National Park was established by Presidential Decree No. 1315 on August 11, 1983, and was named after the Taíno Chiefdom of Xaragua. The park is represented by the Hispaniolan dry forests ecoregion. Spanning the southern slopes of the Baoruco Mountain Range from Oviedo to Cabo Rojo, Jaragua National Park includes dry forest, mangroves, and scrub, as well as land and marine habitats. Pico Do Jaraguá
Pico do Jaraguá (Jaraguá Peak) is the highest mountain in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, at 1135 metres above sea level, located at the Serra da Cantareira. Jaraguá means Lord of the Valley in Tupi. History In 1580, Afonso Sardinha was settled on the mountain, and found gold there. However, due to the indigenous people who lived there at that time, the mining only began ten years later, after numerous wars. The gold was explored until it was not possible to find it any more, by the 19th century. In 1961, the Parque Estadual do Jaraguá ''(Jaraguá State Park)'' was created. Soon, TV Globo, Bandeirantes and TV Cultura were allowed to build their TV transmitting masts on the mountain. A mast was placed on the highest peak, through a Globo-Bandeirantes partnership, while TV Cultura had its mast build on the nearby lower peak.
