Charleroi Metro
Charleroi Metro (french: Métro de Charleroi; previously known as the ''Charleroi Premetro'' (french: Métro léger de Charleroi)) is a light rail network in Belgium, consisting of a loop line around central Charleroi and three branches towards the suburbs of Gilly, Anderlues and Gosselies. Another branch to Châtelet (historically, the third one) was partially built but never entered service. The current system was opened in seven phases ranging from 1976 to 2012, which included 28 stations, of which 24 were in service along with 6 regular tram stops in Anderlues. On 22 June 2013, 18 more stations were added to the metro system when line M3 to Gosselies went into service. The original plans for the network were much more extensive with 8 branches radiating from the central loop, but had to be abandoned due to high costs and low prospective ridership rates. Belgian Comics
Belgian comics are a distinct subgroup in the comics history, and played a major role in the development of European comics, alongside France with whom they share a long common history. While the comics in the two major language groups and regions of Belgium (Flanders with the Dutch language and Wallonia with French) each have clearly distinct characteristics, they are constantly influencing one another, and meeting each other in Brussels and in the bilingual publication tradition of the major editors. As one of the few arts where Belgium has had an international and enduring impact in the 20th century, comics are known to be "an integral part of Belgian culture". History Before 1940 The first large-scale production of comics in Belgium started in the second half of the 1920s. Earlier, illustrated youth pages were still very similar to the '' Images d'Épinal'' and the Flemish equivalent, the '' Mannekensbladen''. The comics that were available came from France and were mostly ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Marcinelle (; wa, Mårcinele) is a town of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Charleroi, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. Until 1977, it was a municipality of its own. The Daltons (Lucky Luke)
Joe, William, Jack and Averell Dalton, known together as The Daltons or the Dalton brothers, are fictional characters in the ''Lucky Luke'' Western comics series. Four brothers and outlaws acting as the most recurring enemies to protagonist Lucky Luke, they were created by artist Morris and writer René Goscinny. Loosely inspired by the real-life Dalton Gang active in the United States in early 1890s (who themselves appeared in the 1954 ''Lucky Luke'' story " Outlaws"), The Daltons first had a one-panel cameo appearance in the 1958 comic '' Lucky Luke versus Joss Jamon'', before being prominently featured later that year in the comic '' The Dalton Cousins'' (named as such because the four are billed as the cousins of their real-life counterparts within the ''Lucky Luke'' universe). While Morris depicted the real-life Dalton brothers as evil and successful, the fictional Daltons are dysfunctional, messy and less skillful. They are strictly identical except for height: Joe, the ol ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Paul Janson (11 April 1840 – 19 April 1913) was a Walloon Belgian liberal politician. Born in Herstal, Janson studied philosophy and law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. From an early age he was a strong supporter of electoral reform and stood on the progressive wing of the Belgian liberal movement. A modern study suggests that only "his visceral rejection of the class struggle" kept him from the burgeoning socialist movement. Janson was elected to the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for the Liberal Party in 1877, but was not re-elected in 1884. That year he became a local councillor in Brussels. Re-elected in 1 ...
