Janetta Rebold Benton
Janetta Rebold Benton is an American History of art, art historian. She is currently Distinguished Professor of Art History at Pace University in New York City, New York. Education Benton received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University in 1967 and a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University in 1969. She received a PhD from Brown University in 1980. She also earned an MDP diploma from the Management Development Program at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Career Her main focus of study is the art of the medieval and Renaissance periods. She has a particular interest in iconography, including images of animals, especially fantastic fauna and gargoyles. In 2018 Benton received a second Fulbright award to teach at the Graduate School of Art History of the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, China, Hangzhou. Jannette
Jannette (1875–1905), was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare who won two British Classic Races in 1878. She was one of the leading British two-year-olds of 1877 when she was unbeaten in seven races including the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood. On her first appearance as a three-year-old she was beaten by Pilgrimage in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket but reversed the form with that filly to win the Oaks at Epsom a month later. Later in the season she defeated some of the season's best colts to win the St. Leger Stakes at Doncaster and added a victory in the Champion Stakes against some of the leading older horses. She was less effective in 1879 but won the Jockey Club Cup on her final appearance. She was then retired to stud, where she had some success. ''Tagiades japetus'', commonly known as the pied flat or the common snow flat, is a species of spread-winged skipper butterfly belonging to the family Hesperiidae. It is widely distributed, being found from India, the Himalayas, Southeast Asia, to Australia. It contains several recognized subspecies. Description Life cycle and ecology The eggs are laid on the upper surface of young leaves. They hatch in about six days, whereupon they will construct a leaf shelter by cutting the edge of a leaf, folding a triangular piece back, and then attaching it with silk. During the day, they hide under this shelter and only emerge at night to feed. The larvae feed on leaves of vines belonging to the genus ''Dioscorea''; including ''Dioscorea transversa'', ''Dioscorea alata'', and '' Dioscorea numularia''. Janetta Douglas, née Smith, MBE is a Papua New Guinean charity worker. In the late 1960s, she was "a young teacher in Madang", where she "encouraged the women to continue to make pots, assisted with marketing to surrounding villages and to Australia", and helped stimulate a "tourist trade in pottery". Douglas is the author of a book on ''Tourism in Papua New Guinea'' (Institute of Papua New Guinea Studies, Port Moresby, 1975). Ruth Janetta Temple (1892–1984) was an American physician who was a leader in providing free and affordable healthcare and education to underserved communities in Los Angeles, California. She and her husband, Otis Banks, established the Temple Health Institute in East Los Angeles, which became a model for community-based health clinics across the country.
