Janet Dees
Janet Dees is an American curator who is the Steven and Lisa Munster Tananbaum Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art. She is also an art historian and expert on African, African-American, and Spanish colonial art, having researched and taught the subjects in positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Rosenbach Museum and Library, and the Brooklyn Museum. Dees received a BA in art history and African and African American studies from Fordham University and a MA in art history from the University of Delaware. Prior to her graduate studies, she worked as a museum educator for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the African Burial Ground National Monument as well as assistant director for a contemporary art gallery in New York. Steven Tananbaum
Steven Andrew Tananbaum (born 1964 or 1965) is an American hedge fund manager, the founding partner and chief investment officer of GoldenTree Asset Management, which he founded in 2000. In 2018, ''Bloomberg'' referred to Tananbaum as "one of Wall Street’s biggest investors in distressed debt." Early life Tananbaum earned a bachelor's degree in Economics from Vassar College. Career He worked for Kidder, Peabody & Co., before joining MacKay Shields, where he led the firm's high yield group, but left to start his own company. Linda Mary Montano (born January 18, 1942, Saugerties (town), New York, Saugerties, New York (state), New York) is an American performance artist. Early life Montano was raised in a devoutly Roman Catholic household, partly Irish and partly Italian, surrounded by artistic activity. Both her parents played in an orchestra but Linda's fascination with Catholic ritual and desire to do humanitarian service led her to join the novitiate of the Maryknoll Sisters after one year studying at the College of New Rochelle. Ann Hamilton is a visual artist who emerged in the early 1980s known for her large-scale multimedia installations. After receiving her BFA in textile design from the University of Kansas in 1979, she lived in Banff, Alberta, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada before deciding to pursue an MFA in sculpture at Yale in 1983. From 1985 to 1991, she taught on the faculty of the University of California at Santa Barbara. Since 2001, Hamilton has served on the faculty of the Department of Art at the Ohio State University. Amy Cutler
Amy Cutler (born 1974) is an American contemporary artist. Cutler received her BFA degree from The Cooper Union School of Art, New York, New York, in 1997. Her work has been featured in major surveys of contemporary art, most importantly the 2004 Whitney Biennial. Inspirations The characters in Cutler's prints and paintings will often be wearing elaborately patterned clothing. Cutler utilizes culturally-inspired patterns from women's clothing from around the world. Gregory Crewdson
Gregory Crewdson (born September 26, 1962) is an American photographer. He photographs tableaux of American homes and neighborhoods. Life and career Crewdson was born in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. He attended John Dewey High School. As a teenager, he was part of a power pop group called The Speedies that hit the New York scene. Their song, "Let Me Take Your Foto" proved to be prophetic to Crewdson's future career. In 2005, Hewlett Packard used the song in advertisements to promote its digital cameras. At Purchase College, State University of New York, he enrolled in a Photo 101 class taught by Laurie Simmons on a whim, and fell in love with the medium.
