Jane's Combat Simulations
''Jane's Combat Simulations'' was a brand of PC flight and combat flight simulators released by Electronic Arts (EA). The Jane's Information Group branding was licensed by Electronic Arts to lend authenticity and accuracy to their growing line of combat games. The license was announced in 1995, and games were released over the next 5 years, although Jane's Combat Simulations branded games had been released by Electronic Arts since 1994. In late 2000, Electronic Arts dropped ''Jane's Combat Simulations'', leading to them being licensed by different companies. The creative leads behind the ''Jane's Combat Simulations'' line were Andy Hollis and Paul Grace, designers who previously worked on games such as ''F-19 Stealth Fighter'' and '' Chuck Yeager's Advanced Flight Trainer''. '' U.S. Navy Fighters'' is a predecessor game to the franchise. It was released in 1994 by Electronic Arts as part of the ''Air Combat'' series. An updated version, '' Jane's US Navy Fighters 97'', was releas ...

Brand
A brand is a name, term, design, symbol or any other feature that distinguishes one seller's good or service from those of other sellers. Brands are used in business, marketing, and advertising for recognition and, importantly, to create and store value as brand equity for the object identified, to the benefit of the brand's customers, its owners and shareholders. Brand names are sometimes distinguished from Generic brand, generic or store brands. The practice of branding - in the original literal sense of marking by burning - is thought to have begun with the ancient Egyptians, who are known to have engaged in livestock branding as early as 2,700 BCE. Branding was used to differentiate one person's cattle from another's by means of a distinctive symbol burned into the animal's skin with a hot branding iron. If a person stole any of the cattle, anyone else who saw the symbol could deduce the actual owner. The term has been extended to mean a strategic personality for a produ ...

Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters
Jane's Information Group, now styled Janes, is a global open-source intelligence company specialising in military, national security, aerospace and transport topics, whose name derives from British author Fred T. Jane. History Jane's Information Group was founded in 1898 by Fred T. Jane, who had begun sketching ships as an enthusiast naval artist while living in Portsmouth. This gradually developed into an encyclopedic knowledge, culminating in the publishing of ''All the World's Fighting Ships'' (1898). The company then gradually branched out into other areas of military expertise. The books and trade magazines published by the company are often considered the ''de facto'' public source of information on warfare and transportation systems. Based in Greater London for most of its existence, the group was owned by the Thomson Corporation, The Woodbridge Company, then IHS Markit, before being acquired by Montagu Private Equity in 2019. Description The company name is o ...

Jane's Attack Squadron
''Jane's Attack Squadron'' is a 2002 combat flight simulator developed by Looking Glass Studios and Mad Doc Software and published by Xicat Interactive. Based on World War II, the game allows players to pilot fifteen reproductions of that era's military aircraft and to carry out missions for the Axis or Allies. Although it contains dogfights, the game focuses largely on air-to-ground combat, hence the title. ''Jane's Attack Squadron'' was first conceived by Looking Glass employee Seamus Blackley as ''Flight Combat'', a combat-based sequel to '' Flight Unlimited''. The company continued designing the game after Blackley was fired in 1995, and it entered production under Electronic Arts in 1998. The team experienced problems with deadlines and funding during development, with the game eventually being heavily redesigned and renamed ''Jane's Attack Squadron'' at the request of the publisher. These issues contributed to Looking Glass's bankruptcy and closure in 2000. In 2001 and ...

F/A-18
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is an all-weather, twin-engine, supersonic, carrier-capable, multirole combat aircraft, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (hence the F/A designation). Designed by McDonnell Douglas (now part of Boeing) and Northrop (now part of Northrop Grumman), the F/A-18 was derived from the latter's YF-17 in the 1970s for use by the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The Hornet is also used by the air forces of several other nations, and formerly by the U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. The F/A-18 was designed to be a highly versatile aircraft due to its avionics, cockpit displays, and excellent aerodynamic characteristics, with the ability to carry a wide variety of weapons. The aircraft can perform fighter escort, fleet air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, close air support, and aerial reconnaissance. Its versatility and reliability have proven it to be a valuable carrie ...
