Jandakot Airport
Jandakot Airport is a general aviation (GA) airport located in Jandakot, Western Australia, about south-southwest of the "general aviation area of the Airport West precinct" at Perth Airport. Jandakot airport opened in 1963. From 1 July 1998, Jandakot Airport Holdings purchased a 50-year lease with a 49-year option to operate and maintain the airport including its conservation areas. Originally built on unproductive farm lands, it is now among residential suburbs in the south of the Perth metropolitan area, within the City of Cockburn, and just south of Leeming and west of Canning Vale. Jandakot Airport is "the busiest general aviation airport in Australia in terms of aircraft movements". Robin Elizabeth Miller (born 8 September 1940 – 7 December 1975), known as ''"The Sugarbird Lady"'', was an Australian aviatrix and nurse. The name "The Sugarbird Lady" was given to her by outback Aboriginal children during her work combatting polio. She died of cancer at the age of 35. Biography Her mother was the writer Dame Mary Durack, and her father was an aviator, Captain Horrie Miller. After obtaining a private pilot licence and a commercial flying licence while training as a nurse, she approached the Western Australian Department of Health to ask permission to fly to northern Western Australia in order to carry out a vaccination programme. Permission granted, she borrowed money for a Cessna 182 Skylane and set out on her first flight on 22 May 1967. Fly-in fly-out is a method of employing people in remote areas by flying them temporarily to the work site instead of relocating employees and their families permanently. It is often abbreviated to FIFO when referring to employment status. This is common in large mining regions in Australia and Canada. Similar to the fly-in fly-out roster is the DIDO (drive-in drive-out) roster, which has essentially the same benefits and drawbacks. Singapore Flying College
The Singapore Flying College ( Abbreviation: SFC) is a CAAS approved flight school based in Singapore. Established in 1988 under the Singapore Airlines Group, it is the training school for cadet pilots with Singapore Airlines, Scoot and Singapore Airlines Cargo. The SFC headquarters is located at SIA Training Centre, Singapore, in close proximity to Changi Airport and is where the ATPL ground training phase is conducted.
