Jana Šikulová
Jana Šikulová (born 2 July 1988) is a Czech artistic gymnast. She is a multiple Czech national champion and a 2006 European Championships silver medalist on uneven bars. She also won or medalled in multiple world cup events. Career She was born in Brno. She started gymnastics aged six and reached the top of the Czech gymnastics despite having a vision impairment in her left eye. Šikulová followed the steps of fellow Brno gymnast Jana Komrsková, being nicknamed "Small Jana" to distinct her from Komrsková. Although being a top Czech gymnast for years, she did not make it into the olympic squad. Both in 2008 and 2012, she lost the internal Czech competition to Kristýna Pálešová. Sokol Brno I
The Sokol movement (, '' falcon'') is an all-age gymnastics organization first founded in Prague in the Czech region of Austria-Hungary in 1862 by Miroslav Tyrš and Jindřich Fügner. It was based upon the principle of " a strong mind in a sound body". The Sokol, through lectures, discussions, and group outings provided what Tyrš viewed as physical, moral, and intellectual training for the nation. This training extended to men of all ages and classes, and eventually to women. The European Women's Gymnastics Championships are an artistic championships for female gymnasts from European countries organised by the European Union of Gymnastics. They are held annually, though rotate between two different formats. History Originally held biannually in odd-numbered years, the championships moved to even-numbered years in 1990. In 2005 a second set of championships was introduced, titled the "individual championships". 2006 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 26th European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held from 27 April to 30 April 2006 in Volos, Greece. Led by new senior Vanessa Ferrari, Italy became the first team besides Romania, Russia, and the Soviet Union to win the senior team title. Ferrari went on to win the All-Around gold medal for Italy at that year's world championships. Katja Abel's bronze medal on vault was the first medal for unified Germany at the European Championships. Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The Artistic Gymnastics World Cup is a competition series for artistic gymnastics sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). Jana Komrsková
Jana Komrsková (born 6 May 1983 in Roudnice nad Labem) is an artistic gymnast from the Czech Republic who competed in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. Early life Komrsková was born on 6 May 1983 to father Jan Komrska, a gymnastics coach, and mother Zdena Komrsková (née Dorňáková), a 1972 Olympian. She started gymnastics at the age of four and was coached by her parents in Zlín. Her younger sister, Aneta, also competed in gymnastics, while her older sister, Lucie, was a leading Czech long jumper. Yurchenko (vault)
Yurchenko, also known as round-off entry vaults, are a family of vaults performed in artistic gymnastics in which the gymnast does a round-off onto the springboard and a back handspring onto the horse or vaulting table. The gymnast then performs a salto, which may range in difficulty from a simple single tuck to a triple twist layout. Different variations in the difficulty of the salto lead to higher D-scores. This family of vaults is the most common type of vault in gymnastics and its named after Natalia Yurchenko, who first performed it in 1982.
