Jan Van Ravenswaay
Jan van Ravenswaay (28 November 1789, Hilversum - 2 March 1869, Hilversum) was a 19th-century landscape painter from the Northern Netherlands. He was born in the town of Hilversum Biography Ravenswaay was the son of a cotton mill owner in Hilversum. Jordanus Hoorn
Jordanus Hoorn (1753–1833) was a painter and drawing teacher from the Northern Netherlands. Biography Hoorn was born and died in Amersfoort. Pieter Gerardus Van Os
Pieter Gerardus van Os (8 October 1776 – 28 March 1839) was a Dutch painter and engraver and a member of the renowned Van Os family of artists. Van Os was born in The Hague the son of Jan van Os. He studied with his father and from 1794 to 1795 at the Tekenakademie in The Hague. During this period he copied paintings from the works by Paulus Potter and Charles Dujardin. Van Os was particularly fond of animals as his subject matter and made such an excellent copy of one of Potter's works - Young Bull - that it was purchased by William V, Prince of Orange. After completing his training, he departed for Amsterdam, where he supported himself primarily by painting rather mediocre portrait miniatures and giving drawing lessons. Around 1805 he began to devote himself to producing landscape paintings filled with his favourite subject of cattle and was still strongly influenced by the 17th-century Dutch masters. The Netherlands Institute for Art History or RKD (Dutch: RKD-Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis), previously Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie (RKD), is located in The Hague and is home to the largest art history center in the world. The center specializes in documentation, archives, and books on Western art from the late Middle Ages until modern times. All of this is open to the public, and much of it has been digitized and is available on their website. The main goal of the bureau is to collect, categorize, and make art research available, most notably in the field of Dutch Masters. Via the available databases, the visitor can gain insight into archival evidence on the lives of many artists of past centuries. Jacobus Theodorus Abels
Jacobus Theodorus "Jacob" Abels (1803–1866) was a Dutch painter. Life Abels was born in Amsterdam in 1803. He was a pupil of the animal painter Jan van Ravenswaay. In 1826 Abels had visited Germany, and on his return settled at the Hague.Bryan His wife was the daughter of Pieter van Os, Pieter Os. Between 1849 and 1853 he lived in Haarlem and later he moved to Arnhem. He was especially noted for his paintings of moonlit landscapes. The Teylers Museum, Museum at Haarlem has works painted by him. Abels died at Abcoude on 11 June 1866.
