Jan Leschly
Jan Leschly (born 11 September 1940) is a Danish businessman and former professional tennis player. He was a semi finalist in the men's singles at the 1967 U.S. National Championships, and a quarter finalist in doubles at the1966 Wimbledon Championships. Between 1957 and 1973 he won 18 career titles in singles. Tennis career He was a tour tennis professional from the late the 1950s to the early 1970s. Carl-Edvard Hedelund
Carl-Edvard Hedelund (born 14 March 1941) is a former tennis player from Denmark. Tennis career Hedelund participated at the 1959 Wimbledon boys' singles event, losing in the first round to eventual winner, Toomas Leius. Hedelund represented the Denmark Davis Cup team during the 1960s and 1970s, making his debut in the 1962 Europe Zone first round tie against New Zealand. His last Davis Cup appearance was seventeen years later, in 1979 against Italy. During his Davis Cup career, he won 3 of the 19 singles matches and 1 of the 6 doubles matches that he played. Bobby Wilson (tennis)
Robert Keith Wilson (22 November 1935 – 21 September 2020) was an English tennis player. Wilson reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon four times, Forest Hills twice, and Roland Garros once during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was also a prominent Great Britain Davis Cup team member. Grand Slam tournaments Wilson was a champion junior player, winning the 1951 British Junior Championship at age 15. Toomas Leius
Toomas Leius (born 28 August 1941) is a former tennis player from Estonia who competed for the Soviet Union. Career Leius was the boys' singles champion at the 1959 Wimbledon Championships. He won the Soviet Championships in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1968. Other good performances during his career include reaching the final of the 1964 Queen's Club Championships, which he lost to Roy Emerson, and taking Rod Laver to five sets at the 1969 Heineken Open. He was a gold medalist in the mixed doubles at the 1970 Summer Universiade in Turin, with Tiiu Parmas. His best performance in the singles draw of a Grand Slam tournament came at the 1965 French Championships, where he made the quarter-finals. The Moscow International Championships was a men's and women's open international outdoor tennis tournament founded in 1956. Torsten Johansson
Torsten Johansson (11 April 1920 – 14 May 2004) was a Swedish tennis player who was active during the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Tennis career Johansson set a record by shutting out two opponents at the 1947 Wimbledon, when he beat Brian Royds and Pierre Geeland De Merxem, 6–0, 6–0, 6–0 in the first and second rounds respectively. Johansson played for the Royal Tennis Club of Stockholm in the early 1940s and won more than 100 national titles for the club, a record that still stands. Johansson also won 32 Swedish National titles, being 7 titles in singles (4 indoor and 3 outdoor), 10 in doubles (3 indoor and 7 outdoor) as well as 15 mixed doubles titles (5 indoor and 10 outdoor). Copenhagen Open
The Copenhagen Open was a men's tennis tournament on the World Championship Tennis (WCT) circuit and ATP Tour held in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was first held in February 1973 as part of the WCT tour and featured renowned players such as Ken Rosewall, Fred Stolle, Arthur Ashe and Tom Okker. It was played indoors on a carpet surface. The tournament was not held the following two years but returned on the calendar in 1976 without any of the first-tier players. After 1976 the tournament was discontinued. It was re-introduced in 1991 as part of the ATP Tour and was halted again in 2003. Ulf Schmidt
Ulf "Uffe" Christian Johan Schmidt (born 12 July 1934) is a former Swedish tennis player. He competed for AIK from Stockholm. He won 14 singles' tournaments, among them the International Swedish Championships in Båstad in 1957 and 1961. In 1958 he and Sven Davidson won the doubles event in Wimbledon after defeating the top seeds Ashley Cooper and Neale Fraser in the final. They were the only Swedish winners before the Borg era. His best singles result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the semifinal at the 1958 U.S. National Championships. Schmidt was unseeded and defeated third-seeded Ham Richardson in the fourth round before losing to first-seeded Mal Anderson in the semifinal. A wood court is one of the types of tennis courts on which the modern sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Wood courts are generally a form of hardwood flooring.
