Jan Jonsson (Swedish Air Force Officer)
Lieutenant General Jan Bertil Gustav Jonsson (22 September 1952 – 11 November 2021) was a senior Swedish Air Force officer. Jonsson served as Inspector General of the Air Force from 1998 to 2000, as head of the Joint Forces Command from 2000 to 2007 as well as the Commandant General in Stockholm from 2006 to 2007. Early life Jonsson was born on 22 September 1952 in Bräcke, Sweden, the son of captain Bertil Jonsson and his wife Yvonne (née Ölund). He was gliding as a 15-year-old in Halmstad and enrolled at the Swedish Air Force Flying School in Ljungbyhed in 1970. Career Military career Jonsson served as sergeant pilot (''fältflygare'') and was assigned to Skaraborg Wing (F 7) from 1971 to 1978. Jonsson was promoted to second lieutenant in 1975 during his time at the Swedish Armed Forces School for Secondary Education in Uppsala. Swedish Armed Forces School for Secondary Education ( sv, Försvarets läroverk, FL, later ''Försvarets gymnasieskola'', FGS) was a joint school unit of the Swedish Armed Forces which operated in various forms the years 1943–1982. The school was located in Uppsala Garrison in Uppsala. History As a result of the fact that the public school system could not meet the Swedish Armed Forces needs of education in general subjects, the Swedish Army Non-Commissioned Officer School was established in 1926. The Supreme Commander ( sv, överbefälhavaren; acronym: ÖB) is the highest ranked professional military officer in the Swedish Armed Forces, and is by NATO terminology the Swedish chief of defence equivalent. The Supreme Commander is the agency head of the Swedish Armed Forces and formally reports to the Government of Sweden, though normally through the Minister for Defence. The primary responsibilities and duties of the Supreme Commander (and the charter for the Armed Forces) are prescribed in an ordinance issued by the Government. Tony Stigsson
Major General Stig Kent Tony Stigsson (born 6 November 1956) is a former Swedish Army officer, former head of the Joint Forces Command of the Swedish Armed Forces. Until 2005, Stigsson was also president of the Swedish Wrestling Federation. Stigsson was arrested in early 2005 on suspicion of rape, spousal abuse and mishandling of top secret classified documents. He was convicted of spousal abuse on 6 July 2005 and sentenced to 6 months of prison for two counts of assault, which was later reduced to three months on appeal. Stigsson was relieved of all duties at the Swedish Armed Forces, while the government disciplinary board ( Statens ansvarsnämnd) was reviewing whether Stigsson was to be dismissed from the Swedish Armed Forces. Air Staff ( sv, Flygstaben, FS) is the staff of the Chief of the Swedish Air Force. It was officially established in 1936 as a result of the Defence Act of 1936 and would handle matters of a general nature. The Air Staff's duties included, among other things to assist the Chief of the Air Force with leadership of the Air Force's mobilization, training, tactics, organization, equipment and personnel to the extent that such activity was not directly related to operational activities, which was then handled by the Defence Staff.
