Jan Dekker (basketball)
Jan Dekker (born 1 March 1950) is a Dutch former basketball player and coach. Standing at 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in), he was as standout point guard who had his most notable years for Nashua Den Bosch. Playing career Dekker started his career in 1969 with the Haarlem Cardinals, before signing with Rotterdam-Zuid the following year. He stayed with the team, that was also named Transol RZ during the time, for six seasons. In 1976, he joined EBBC Den Bosch where he would stay for seven seasons until 1983. His number was retired by the club. Over his career in the Dutch Eredivisie, Dekker averaged 12.1 points per game. Dekker also played 160 games for the Netherlands men's national basketball team, and ranks 5th all-time in games played. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Nashua Den Bosch
Heroes Den Bosch is a Dutch professional basketball club based in 's-Hertogenbosch. The club plays in the BNXT League since 2021 and in the top basketball division in the Netherlands since 1972. Founded as EBBC in 1951, the club had several sponsored names the following decades. Den Bosch has won a record seventeen Dutch championships, seven Dutch Cup and two Dutch Supercup titles. Vladimír Heger
Vladimír Heger (30 January 1932 – 1 March 2021) was a Czechoslovak basketball player and coach. He was most known for his achievement as head coach of the Czechoslovakia national basketball team, Czechoslovakian and Netherlands national basketball team, Dutch national team. Coaching career In 1965, Heger took over as head coach of the Czechoslovakia national basketball team. He won silver at EuroBasket 1967 and bronze at EuroBasket 1969. In 1983, he started as head coach of the Netherlands national basketball team. Heger led the team to the fourth place at EuroBasket 1983, the best ranking of the Netherlands of all-time. The Netherlands men's national basketball team ( nl, Het Nederlands nationaal basketbalteam) represents the Netherlands in international basketball matches. The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential.
