Jan-Olof Bengtsson
Jan-Olof Bengtsson is a Swedish journalist and political columnist in different media. He was born on 30 April 1952 and lives in Malmö, Sweden and in France. Accredited Bengtsson covered the Middle East conflict in Israel and Lebanon during the early eighties as correspondent. He has also been European correspondent and in that capacity covered European Affairs and EU-related material for several years with base in Brussels and Strasbourg. Among other assignments he participated in the Swedish Himalaya-expedition in Nepal in 1981. He is accredited to the ''International Press Centre'' by the Danish ministry of foreign affairs and a member of the Swedish Union of Journalists . Until 2011 he worked as political columnist of the Swedish daily Kvällsposten, Malmö, Sweden. Now he is a frequent contributor in other different media as political columnist including the capacity as moderator in debates, mediastrategist and writer. ''Expressen'' (''The Express'') is one of two nationwide evening newspapers in Sweden, the other being ''Aftonbladet''. ''Expressen'' was founded in 1944; its symbol is a wasp and its slogans are "it stings" or "''Expressen'' to your rescue". Overview The first edition of ''Expressen'' was published on 16 November 1944. A main feature that day was an interview with the crew members of a British bomber who were successful in sinking the German ship ''Tirpitz''. A project of Albert Bonnier Jr., Carl-Adam Nycop, and Ivar Harrie – who was to become the first editor-in-chief – Expressen was created in part to push back against "national socialism and related violent ideologies." The paper is owned by the Bonnier Group. As of 2005, the paper had a liberal stance, but it declared its independent leaning in 1995. Bernt Carlsson
Bernt Wilmar Carlsson (21 November 1938 – 21 December 1988) was a Swedish social democrat and diplomat who served as Assistant-Secretary-General of the United Nations and United Nations Commissioner for Namibia from July 1987 until he died on Pan Am Flight 103, which was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland on 21 December 1988. Abdelbaset al-Megrahi was subsequently convicted of 270 counts of murder in connection with the bombing and sentenced to life imprisonment. Social democrat A native of Stockholm, Carlsson joined the Swedish Social Democratic Youth League when he was sixteen, studied economics at Stockholm University and, upon graduation, went into Sweden's foreign ministry. He worked as assistant to the Minister of Commerce in 1967 and was assigned to be international secretary of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Sweden in 1970. Pan Am Flight 103 conspiracy theories suggest a number of possible explanations for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 on December 21, 1988.
