Jan-Are Larsen
Jan-Are Larsen (born 18 May 1976) is a Norwegian professional golfer. Having shown promise as an amateur golfer, Larsen earned a scholarship to play on the golf team at the University of Alabama. Upon graduating in 2002, he entered qualifying school for the European Tour as an amateur, and was successful in claiming the fifth card for the full tour. However, his debut professional season was a struggle, making only seven cuts and failing to retain his card. Since then, Larsen has progressed to the European Tour twice more via qualifying school, but has mostly played on the second-tier Challenge Tour, where he has recorded two runner-up finishes. His best season on the European Tour has been 2008, when he finished 146th in the Order of Merit. Larsen also has two professional wins on the Scandinavian Nordic League circuit. Sarpsborg ( or ), historically Borg, is a List of cities in Norway, city and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Viken (county), Viken Counties of Norway, county, Norway. 2002 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2002 Eisenhower Trophy took place 24–27 October on the Palm and Bunga Raya courses at Saujana Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the 23rd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 63 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team was due to play two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played on the Bunga Raya course on the third day and were due to play on the Palm course on the final day. After heavy rain and lightning on the final morning, a cut was introduced and only the leading 20 teams played the final round. Positions 21 to 63 were determined by scores after three rounds. The leading 33 teams had played their third round on the Bunga Raya course while the others played on the Palm course. The 2000 Eisenhower Trophy took place 31 August to 3 September on the Nick Faldo and Arnold Palmer courses at Sporting Club Berlin in Bad Saarow, Germany. It was the 22nd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 59 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team played two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played on the Arnold Palmer course on the third day and on the Nick Faldo course on the final day. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather.
