Persian Phonology
The Persian language has between six and eight vowels and 26 consonants. It features contrastive stress and syllable-final consonant clusters. Vowels The chart to the right reflects the vowels of many educated Persian speakers from Tehran. There are three short vowels: , and , and three long vowels: , and . The three short vowels are only short when in an open syllable (i.e. without a coda) that is non-final (regardless of stress); e.g. "sound", "God". Nasir Jamshed ( ur, ناصر جمشید; born 6 December 1989) is a former Pakistani cricketer, who is currently banned for ten years for his involvement in spot-fixing. Junaid Jamshed Khan ( ur, ; 3 September 1964 – 7 December 2016) was a Pakistani singer-songwriter, television personality, fashion designer, actor, and preacher. After graduating with a degree in engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Jamshed briefly worked as a civilian contractor and engineer for the Pakistan Air Force before focusing on a musical career. Jamshed first gained nationwide and international recognition as the vocalist of Vital Signs. Their 1987 album, ''Vital Signs 1'' included the hit singles "Dil Dil Pakistan", and "Tum Mil Gaye". The commercial success of the album helped develop Pakistan's rock music industry. Sultan Sir Jamshid bin Abdullah Al Said, ( ar, جمشيد بن عبد الله; born 16 September 1929), is a Zanzibari royal who was the last reigning Sultan of Zanzibar before being deposed in the 1964 Zanzibar Revolution. Biography Jamshid ruled Zanzibar from 1 July 1963 to 12 January 1964. On 10 December 1963, Zanzibar received its independence from the United Kingdom as a constitutional monarchy within the Commonwealth under Jamshid. This state of affairs was short lived and he was overthrown by the Zanzibar Revolution. He fled into exile firstly to Oman but was not allowed to settle permanently. Jamshid Sharmahd ( fa, جمشید شارمهد; born 23 March 1955) is a German-Iranian journalist and software engineer. He was born in Tehran and moved with his family to Germany when he was seven years old. He has been a German citizen since 1995. He established his own software company and in 2003 moved to the United States, where he is a legal resident. In late July 2020, the Intelligence of the Islamic Regime arrested Sharmahd in Dubai and brought him to Iran. The Iranian government alleges that Sharmahd is responsible for a 2008 attack on a mosque in Shiraz that killed 14 people and injured 200. Jamshid Nassiri (born 15 March 1959 in Khorramshahr) is an Iranian-Indian football manager and former footballer, who is currently the technical director of Calcutta Premier Division side Peerless. Nassiri is known for forming a successful attacking duo with Majid Bishkar in the 80's. Jamshid Jafargulu oglu Nakhchivanski ( az, Cəmşid Cəfərqulu oğlu Naxçıvanski; August 23, 1895 – August 26, 1938), also known as Jamshid Khan Nakhichevanski, was a Russian Imperial, Azerbaijani and Soviet military commander. Jamshid Momtaz (born 18 June 1942 in İzmir) is an Iranian jurist and academic. He earned his degree in public law at the Faculty of Law and Economy from University of Paris (1966).
