Jammu Railway Division
Jammu railway division, headquartered at Jammu, is one of the six railway divisions under the jurisdiction of Northern Railway zone of the Indian Railways in India. The jurisdiction of Jammu railway division covers Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, part of Punjab and part of Himachal Pradesh. History On 6 January 2025, the newly formed division was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after carving it out of the Firozpur Division when it became 70th railway division in India. ''E. Srinivas'' become it's first Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). Jalandhar–Jammu Line
The Jalandhar–Jammu line is a railway line connecting and in the Indian state of Punjab, India, Punjab with in Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), Jammu and Kashmir. The line is under the administrative jurisdiction of Northern Railway zone, Northern Railway. This line was made after Indian Independence in 1947. Normally before partition of India and creation of Pakistan, trains to Jammu Tawi from Delhi used to run via Panipat, , Ludhiana, Jalandhar City, Amritsar, Lahore, Narowal and Sialkot. But after partition and creation of Pakistan in 1947, the Sialkot–Jammu Tawi line was dismantled and closed permanently. Jammu and Kashmir became cut off from rest of India. Hence in 1949, it was decided to extend the line from Jalandhar City to Mukerian till Pathankot and after the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, this line was extended to Jammu Tawi. Jammu–Baramulla Line
The Jammu–Baramulla line, including the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramula Rail Link (USBRL) subsection, is a 324 km long railway track between the cities of Jammu and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir India. It is fully operational as of June 7, 2025. Connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India, this rail link has major geostrategic importance for the Indian armed forces. It has reduced the travel time between Jammu and Srinagar by 4 hours from 7 hours to 3 hours, and it also connects the important religious pilgrimage sites of Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and Amarnath Temple. Joginder Nagar railway station is a railway station serving Joginder Nagar town, Himachal Pradesh in India. The station lies in the Kangra Valley Railway and under Jammu railway division of Northern Railway zone of Indian Railways.It is a small railway station in Joginder Nagar in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
