Jameson Land
Jameson Land is a peninsula in eastern Greenland. Geography Jameson Land is bounded to the southwest by Scoresby Sound (the world's largest fjord), to the northwest by the Stauning Alps, to the north by Scoresby Land, to the northeast by the Fleming Fjord and the Nathorst Fjord of the Greenland Sea, and to the east by Carlsberg Fjord, the smaller Liverpool Land peninsula branching off, and Hurry Inlet. Its northeastern end is Cape Biot. The Mestersvig military base is located in the northern part of the peninsula. Geology Jameson Land mainly consists of a tilted peneplain of Jurassic sandstone, highest in the east. In the northern end there are also rocks of Triassic age. Jameson Point
Jameson Point is a small headland on the north side of the entrance to Malina Cove, situated north of Cape Garry on the west side of Low Island, in the South Shetland Islands of Antarctica. It was roughly charted by the French Antarctic Expedition, 1908–10. The point was photographed from the air by the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition, 1955–57, and more accurately delineated from these photos by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1959. The name "Jameson Island" was applied to Low Island by James Weddell in 1820–23, and Jameson Point has been approved for this point to preserve Weddell's name on Low Island. The Jameson Raid (29 December 1895 – 2 January 1896) was a botched Raid (military), raid against the South African Republic (commonly known as the Transvaal) carried out by British colonial administrator Leander Starr Jameson, under the employment of Cecil Rhodes. It involved 500 British South Africa Company police launched from Rhodesia (region), Rhodesia over the New Year weekend of 1895–96. Paul Kruger, whom Rhodes had a great personal hatred towards, was president of the South African Republic at the time. The raid was intended to trigger an uprising by the primarily British expatriate workers (known as Uitlanders) in the South African Republic, Transvaal but failed to do so. The workers were called the Johannesburg conspirators. They were expected to recruit an army and prepare for an insurrection; however, the raid was ineffective, and no uprising took place. Jameson Raid (band)
Jameson Raid are a British heavy metal band. They are usually considered to be part of the new wave of British heavy metal, following their inclusion on EMI's album ''Metal For Muthas II'', although they were established on the Birmingham circuit as a hard rock band several years before this. Career The band can originally be dated back to 1973, when bassist John Ace and guitarist Ian Smith, played together in Spectaté II at the school they attended in Sutton Coldfield. The band members went their separate ways to go to university – aside from Smith who went to sea – at which point Ace formed a covers outfit. When this split, Ace, together with rhythm guitarist Stewart Harrod, persuaded Smith to return and added the drummer Phil Kimberley.
