Jamesie Donnelly
Jamesie Donnelly is a hurler. He plays for Seán Mac Cumhaills and, formerly, the Donegal county team. He won the 2011 Lory Meagher Cup with his county, starting and completing the final. He won the 2013 Nicky Rackard Cup, starting and completing the final. He also won the 2018 Nicky Rackard Cup, starting the final before being substituted at half-time. He retired from inter-county hurling in 2018. Donnelly was part of the county management team in 2021, but had left this role by early 2022. Married to Claire, he is from Ballybofey. The couple have several children. Ballybofey
Ballybofey ( , ; ) is a town located on the south bank of the River Finn, County Donegal, Ireland. Together with the smaller town of Stranorlar on the north side of the River Finn, the towns form the Twin Towns of Ballybofey-Stranorlar. Ballybofey-Stranorlar, a census town, had a population of 4,852 in 2016. History A few miles west of Ballybofey, on the main road to Fintown (the R252 regional road), is the Glenmore Estate, located at Welchtown. The estate formerly included Glenmore Lodge, a country house that stood on the opposite, southern bank of the River Finn, near Glenmore Bridge. The house was originally built in the Georgian-style in the mid-to-late-18th-century. It was reworked for Sir William Styles in the neo-Tudor-style in the early 20th century. Mickey McCann
Michael "Mickey" McCann is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He currently manages the Donegal county team and plays as goalkeeper for Burt. He played when Donegal won the 2011 Lory Meagher Cup and scored a point in the final at Croke Park. On 25 October 2017, the county board announced McCann's appointment as senior manager on a two-year contract, with the possibility of a third year in charge also mentioned. The county board had specifically identified him after all candidates nominated for the position were rejected as unsuitable. The Donegal county hurling team represents Donegal in hurling and is governed by Donegal GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Nicky Rackard Cup and the National Hurling League (currently Division 2B, often also in Division 3A). Donegal's home ground is MacCumhaill Park, Ballybofey. 2018 Nicky Rackard Cup
The 2018 Nicky Rackard Cup was the 14th staging of the Nicky Rackard Cup hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 2005. It was the fourth tier of senior inter-county hurling as of 2018. The competition began on Saturday 12 May 2018 and ended on Saturday 23 June 2018. Derry were the 2017 champions, beating Armagh in the final. Both teams were promoted to the 2018 Christy Ring Cup as a result of the restructuring of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship.
