James Lesesne Wells
James Lesesne Wells (November 2, 1902 – January 20, 1993) was an African American graphic artist, print-maker, and painter associated with the Harlem Renaissance. He was an influential art professor at Howard University from 1929 to 1968 and is considered a pioneer in modern art education. Early life and education Wells was born on November 2, 1902, in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, in the United States. His father, Frederick W. Wells, was a Baptist minister while his mother, Hortensia Ruth Lesesne Wells, taught school. When he was young, his family moved to Florida. Wells's first experience in art was assisting his mother with her kindergarten art class. James Madison Wells
James Madison Wells (January 7, 1808February 28, 1899) was elected Lieutenant Governor and became the 20th Governor of Louisiana during Reconstruction. Early life Born near Alexandria, Louisiana, on January 7, 1808, Wells' father was Samuel Levi Wells II, a member of Louisiana's constitutional convention in 1811. His mother was the former Dorcas Huie. A brother, Thomas Jefferson Wells, was involved in Louisiana politics. Samuel Wells died when James was 8 years old, leaving eight children. Wells was educated at the Jesuit-run St. Joseph's College in Bardstown south of Louisville, Kentucky; Partridge's Academy, Middletown, Connecticut; and Cincinnati Law School. In Cincinnati, he was tutored in law by an old-line Federalist named Charles Hammond, who edited the '' Cincinnati Gazette''. Hammond's frequent attacks on slavery failed to influence Wells. James Monroe Wells (1837–1918) was an author, Union Army officer, and politician. He wrote ''The Chisolm Massacre; A picture of "home rule" in Mississippi'' about the Chisolm Massacre. James Daniel Lynch responded with an account blaming Radical Republicans titled ''Kemper County Vindicated, And a Peep at Radical Rule in Mississippi''. Wells served as a state senator in Idaho. James Pearson Wells (January 11, 1822 – August 24, 1893) was an Ontario farmer and political figure. He represented York North in the 1st Canadian Parliament as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was born in 1822 in Aurora, Upper Canada, the son of John Wells, was educated in York County and settled in King Township. Wells married Lydia Norman. James Freeman Wells is a British politician. He was elected as a Brexit Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Wales constituency in the 2019 election serving until January 2020. He was second on his party's list after Nathan Gill (former UKIP MEP). Early life and education Wells left formal education at the age of 16. He returned to full-time education twelve years later and studied psychology at the University of Liverpool and later a Masters in the same subject at Cranfield University. Career Prior to joining politics, he was head of the UK trade team at the Office for National Statistics. Wells quit the role and his membership to the Conservative Party in order to run as a candidate for the Brexit Party in the Wales constituency in the 2019 European Parliament election. James Wells (1758 – 1807) was an English cricketer. Wells was the brother of cricketer John Wells. Wells made his first-class debut for a team representing Hampshire against an early England team. Wells played seven times for Hampshire sides as well as ten times for Surrey teams. His final match for Surrey came in 1800 against England. Wells also played a single first-class match for a side representing Kent in 1793, against the Marylebone Cricket Club. In addition to playing first-class cricket for the above sides, he also represented Hampshire and Sussex, TA Smith's XI, N to Z and England.
