2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was held at the Lockleys Bowling Club in Adelaide, Australia, from 24 November to 9 December 2012. Some of the qualifying rounds were held at the nearby Holdfast Bowling Club in Glenelg North. Leif Selby won the men's singles Gold and the pairing of Alex Marshall and Paul Foster took the pairs Gold. Scotland also won the triples but Australia struck Gold in the fours and Leonard Trophy. In the women's events Australia were dominant winning the singles won by Karen Murphy, pairs, triples and Taylor Trophy. British Isles Bowls Championships
The British Isles Bowls Championships is a tournament held between the champions of their respective nations, England Scotland, Wales, combined Ireland and more recently Guernsey and Jersey. It was first held in 1960 although the triples event did not start until 1977. The women's events started in June 1972, with the triples starting in 1982. The first women's singles winner was Lilian Nicholas of Wales. The first men's singles winner was Kenneth Coulson of England and the legendary David Bryant (bowls), David Bryant MBE holds the record for the most singles titles with four. The tournament is held the year after each of the National champions have been crowned. The 2020 edition was initially cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but because there were no National Championships held during 2020 (also due to the pandemic) the 2020 edition was rescheduled for 2021. World Cup Singles The World Cup Singles was an event inaugurated in 2005 by the organisation known as World Bowls and was held until 2019. It was contested annually between bowlers from national bowls organisations. The competition was seen as the Southern Hemisphere equivalent of the World Indoor Bowls Championships held annually in the United Kingdom and organised by the World Bowls Tour. The event was first held from 3-10 April 2005, at the Hong Kong Football Club indoor bowling green and Ap Lei Chau Sports Centre in Hong Kong but eventually took place every year at the Warilla Bowls Club in New South Wales, Australia. Although players from both hemispheres were able to compete, travelling restricted the entries and the majority of the leading indoor players from the Northern hemisphere did not take part.
