James Spence (sailor)
John F. D. Spence (2 October 1875 – 20 February 1946) was British sailing competitor at the 1908 Summer Olympics. Sources also give his name as James Fleming Drever Spence. He was a crew member on the ''Mouchette'' which finished second of two teams competing in the 12 metre class. James Spence (surgeon)
James Spence FRSE FRCSEd (1812-1882) was a Scottish surgeon. He served as President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 1867/68. Life He was born on 31 March 1812 at 12 South Bridge in Edinburgh, the son of James Spence, a perfumer, and his third wife. He was educated at a boarding-school in Galashiels and afterwards at the Royal High School, Edinburgh. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, but left to be apprenticed to Messrs. Scott & Orr, a firm of Edinburgh chemists, at 100 South Bridge. He managed, however, to complete his medical education in the Edinburgh Extramural School of Medicine and in 1832 received the diploma of Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. On qualifying he made two voyages to Calcutta in 1833 as surgeon to an East Indiaman, but returned to Edinburgh to teach anatomy for 7 years as the university demonstrator under Professor Alexander Monro tertius. James Calvert Spence
Sir James Calvert Spence, & Bar (19 March 1892 – 26 May 1954) was an English paediatrician who was a pioneer in the field of social paediatrics. He was a founding member of the British Paediatric Association. Early life Spence was born in Amble, Northumberland on 19 March 1892, the fourth son and seventh child of Isabella Turnbull and her husband, David Magnus Spence, an architect. After being educated at Elmfield College, York, he attended the Durham College of Medicine in Newcastle upon Tyne. World War I service Spence went into the Royal Army Medical Corps. He served in the Gallipoli campaign, Egypt, and the Western Front. Captain Spence received the Military Cross (MC) for "conspicuous gallantry" and "devotion to duty" in attending wounded while under fire. Spence was born in Greenock Township, Ontario and attended school in London, Ontario and Walkerton, Ontario. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School before being called to the bar. Jamie Spence
James Stephen Spence (born 26 May 1963) is an English professional golfer. Career Spence was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He turned professional in 1985 and has finished in the top 100 on the European Tour Order of Merit more than a dozen times, with a best placing of tenth in 1992. His two European Tour wins came at the 1992 Canon European Masters and the 2000 Moroccan Open. In 2003 he succeeded Mark James as the Chairman of The European Tour's Tournament Committee.
