James Skinner (East India Company Officer)
Colonel James Skinner (1778 – 4 December 1841) was an Anglo-Indian soldier of the Maratha Empire and the Bengal Army of British India. He became known as ''Sikandar Sahib'' later in life, and is most known for two cavalry regiments he raised for the British at Hansi in 1803, known as 1st Skinner's Horse and 3rd Skinner's Horse (formerly 2nd Skinner's Horse), which are still units of the Indian Army. Fluent in Persian, the court and intellectual language of India in his day, Skinner composed several works in the language, including an extensively illustrated manuscript ''Kitāb-i Tashrīḥ al-Aqvām'' (History of the Origin and Distinguishing Marks of the Different Castes of India), now held by the Library of Congress. James Atchison Skinner
James Atchison Skinner (October 26, 1826 – December 24, 1894) was a Scottish-born farmer, merchant and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Oxford South in the House of Commons of Canada from 1874 to 1882 as a Liberal member. He was born in Tain, Ross-shire, the son of Hugh Ross Skinner and Mary Fraser McPherson, was educated in Scotland and came to Canada in 1843. He was first employed with a wholesale dry goods firm, establishing an importing and wholesale business in partnership with his younger brother around 1850. In 1849, he married Agnes Johnston, also a native of Scotland. His parents came to Canada in 1861. Skinner served in the militia during the Fenian raids, later reaching the rank of lieutenant-colonel. He operated a farm near Woodstock, Ontario. James Scott Skinner
James Scott Skinner (5 August 1843 – 17 March 1927) was a Scottish dancing master, violinist, fiddler and composer. He is considered to be one of the most influential fiddlers in Scottish traditional music, and was known as "the Strathspey King". Early years Skinner was born on 5 August 1843 in Arbeadie in the parish of Banchory, Aberdeenshire, the youngest of six children. His father William Skinner was a dancing teacher. His mother, Mary Skinner (née Agnew) originally came from Strathdon. His father died in 1845. When his mother remarried seven years later, he moved to Aberdeen where he lived with his sister Annie and attended Connell's School. James Allen Skinner (16 January 1890 – 20 January 1974) was a British pacifist and trade unionist. Born in Dulwich, Skinner began working for the Post Office, firstly delivering telegraphs, then as a postman, and as a sorter. Playing career Skinner played for the Selkirk Fishermen, Winnipeg Rangers and the Winnipeg Falcons in his teens. He was offered a contract with New York Rangers but declined the offer and played for the Flin Flon Bombers instead. Skinner was a member of the Bombers team, which won the Sask. Senior Hockey League Championship in 1938. Skinner would later move on to serve as a player/coach for the Omaha Knights, followed by a stint with the Indianapolis Capitals playing alongside his brother, Morden Huron Lake "Ducky" Skinner in 1943.
