Iowa Senate
The Iowa Senate is the upper house of the Iowa General Assembly, United States. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, . Each Senate district is composed of two House districts. The Senate meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines. Unlike the lower house, the Iowa House of Representatives, Senators serve four-year terms, with no term limits. Terms are staggered so that half the Senate is up for reelection every two years. Leadership The President of the Senate presides over the body, whose powers include referring bills to committee, recognizing members during debate, and making procedural rulings. Unlike the more powerful Speaker of the Iowa House of Representatives, the Senate President cannot appoint committee chairmanships or shuffle committee memberships. Earling, Iowa
Earling is a city in Shelby County, Iowa, Shelby County, Iowa, United States. The population was 397 at the time of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. History Earling had its start 1881-1882 by the building of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway through that territory. The town was platted in 1882 by the Milwaukee Land Company and was first known as Marthan. However, there was already a town called Marathon in Iowa, so the name of the town was soon changed to Earling, in honor of Albert J. Earling who in 1882 was division superintendent of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway. (Earling became president of the said Railroad on September 23, 1899.) Paul Franzenburg (November 18, 1916 – October 31, 2004) was an American politician and businessman. Biography Franzenburg was born in Conrad, Iowa and graduated from Pierson High School. He help organized the school band. Franzenburg served in the United States Army during World War II. He was involved with the family business: The Franzenburg Provision Company, a meat processing business. Franzenburg served on the Conrad Board of Education and was a Democrat. He served as Treasurer of Iowa from 1965 to 1969. In 1968, he ran for Governor of Iowa, being defeated by incumbent Governor Robert D. Ray. He serve on the Iowa Utilities Board from 1983 until 1991. Jerome (; la, Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus; grc-gre, Εὐσέβιος Σωφρόνιος Ἱερώνυμος; – 30 September 420), also known as Jerome of Stridon, was a Christian priest, confessor, theologian, and historian; he is commonly known as Saint Jerome. Jerome was born at Stridon, a village near Emona on the border of Dalmatia and Pannonia. He is best known for his translation of the Bible into Latin (the translation that became known as the Vulgate) and his commentaries on the whole Bible. Jerome attempted to create a translation of the Old Testament based on a Hebrew version, rather than the Septuagint, as Latin Bible translations used to be performed before him.
