James Santelle
James L. Santelle (born 1958) is an American attorney and former prosecutor who served as United States attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin from 2010 to 2015. Life and career Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Santelle graduated from Marquette University in 1980 and the University of Chicago Law School in 1983. From 1983 to 1985, he was a law clerk to Judge Robert W. Warren of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. From 1985 until 2010, Santelle was employed as a federal prosecutor, holding various posts in the Eastern District of Wisconsin: he supervised the civil division from 1993 to 1999, acted as interim United States Attorney from 2001 to 2002, and served as executive assistant United States Attorney from 2002 to 2003. 2012 Wisconsin Gurdwara Shooting
On August 5, 2012, a mass shooting took place at the gurdwara (Sikh temple) in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, United States where 40-year-old Wade Michael Page fatally shot six people and wounded four others. A seventh victim died of his wounds in 2020. Page committed suicide by shooting himself in the head after he was shot in the hip by a responding police officer. Page was an American white supremacist and Army veteran from Cudahy, Wisconsin. Apart from the shooter, all of the dead were members of the Sikh faith. The incident drew responses from President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Dignitaries attended candlelight vigils in countries such as the U.S., Canada, and India.
