James Sanders (American Football)
James Sanders (born November 11, 1983) is a former American football safety. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Fresno State. Sanders also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals. College career After graduating from Monache High School, Sanders attended Fresno State University, where he played for head coach Pat Hill, a former assistant under Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, then coach of the Cleveland Browns. As a freshman in 2002, Sanders was a first-team freshman All-American selection by the Football Writers Association of America and an All- WAC honorable mention. He started every game at strong safety for the second straight year in his 2003 sophomore season, earning first-team All-WAC honors. Twiggy Sanders
James "Twiggy" Sanders, born in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a retired American basketball player and coach. He played basketball at Ligon High School where he earned All-Conference, All-State and All-American honors. Sanders went on to star at Johnson C. Smith University. He was voted to the CIAA All-Tournament team in 1973 and 1974. He received his B.S. in Physical Education in 1974. Sanders later gained fame when in 1974 he joined the Harlem Globetrotters in which he played for 17 years, retiring from the team in 1991. Since then Sanders become head basketball coach at Bonner Academy in Raleigh and also was head coach for two years with the Raleigh Cougars of the United States Basketball League (USBL). He later became an assistant coach for two years at Morris Brown College. In 2004, Sanders became the first head coach of the American Basketball Association expansion team the Maryland Nighthawks. Jimmy Sanders (footballer)
James Sanders (5 July 1920 – 11 August 2003) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper, most notably for West Bromwich Albion. Biography Sanders joined Charlton Athletic from Cray Wanderers towards the end of the Second World War but found his progress hampered by both the outbreak of the war and the presence of Addicks legend Sam Bartram. His war service was spent with the Royal Air Force, for whom he was a gunner pilot before being invalided out. Deprived of playing time due to the presence of Bartram, he appeared as a guest player for Chelsea, Liverpool, Southampton and West Ham United before guesting for Albion, earning himself a £2,250 move to the Hawthorns. Sanders established himself as number one at the club until 1952 when he lost out to Norman Heath, although he continued to feature intermittently until his departure in 1958. James Raburn Sanders (September 3, 1902 – December 1975) was a successful minor league baseball player and manager. He was born in Penfield, Georgia, United States. In 1935, he was given the title of United States minor league baseball batting champion for the year of 1934. He also received a Louisville Slugger trophy because of this. Playing career Sanders played from 1923 to 1939, hitting .314 in 1,849 games. He collected 2,150 hits – 405 of which were doubles, 151 of which were triples and 101 of which were home runs. He also stole 368 bases. He led the 1926 South Atlantic League with 42 stolen bases, and the 1928 Central League with 29 stolen bases. As well, he led the 1927 Western Association with 14 triples. James Sanders (1900–1981) was a New Zealand rugby league player who represented New Zealand. Playing career Sanders started his career in third grade with Addington in 1915. He spent his entire career with Addington apart from a few games for Hornby when Addington had no senior team. He captained Addington to their first title in 1923. James Sanders Holman
James Sanders Holman (February 7, 1804 – December 8, 1867) was a soldier, entrepreneur, and the first mayor of Houston. Early life Holman was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Isaac and Polly Anne (Wiggleworth) Holman on February, 7, 1804. When he was about 13 years old, his family moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. He married a first cousin Martha Wilson Holaman just after he turned 18 years old. He had at least 8 children. Career Holman first arrived in Texas in 1834. His brother followed him to San Augustine, Texas, with several family members joining them the next year. Holman participated in the Texan Revolution, and fought in the Siege of Bexar. On April 28, 2010, James Sanders was fatally shot in Edgewood, Washington, while showing a diamond ring that was listed for sale on Craigslist. Circumstances of death Three men and a woman went to Sanders' house to inspect a diamond ring offered for sale on Craigslist. The suspects said by telephone that the ring was sought for a Mother's Day gift for a mother-in-law. The family was detained. When the suspects started to beat one of the children, the elder Sanders intervened and was fatally shot. Suspects and alleged crime spree Based on tracing e-mailed information, four suspects were sought, Clabon Berniard, Joshua Reese, Kiyoshi Higashi, and Amanda Knight.
