James Rennie (naturalist)
James Rennie (26 February 1787, Sorn – 1867, Adelaide) was a Scottish naturalist. Life In 1815 he graduated M.A. from Glasgow University where he had previously studied natural sciences, and took holy orders. In 1821 he moved to London. From 1830 to 1834 he was professor of natural history and zoology at King's College. From then on he made his living as a natural history author. Rennie emigrated to Australia, 1840, where he ran the College High School in Elizabeth Street, Sydney, with an emphasis on the arts and natural history. Works Rennie wrote, among many other books, ''The Natural History of Insects'' published by John Murray (1829) and co-authored with John Obadiah Westwood; ''Insect Architecture'' (1830), a popular work originally in the Library of Entertaining Knowledge but reissued in 1857 by John Murray; and ''Alphabet of Botany For Use of Beginners'' (1834). James Rennie (actor)
James Malachi Rennie (April 18, 1889 – July 31, 1965) was a Canadian American actor who performed on the New York stage and also appeared in several Hollywood films during the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. He became a U.S. citizen in New York in 1933. Early life Of Scottish descent, he was born on April 18, 1889, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the son of John and Margaret Rennie, both of whom were Mormon. As a youth he acted in a number of stage productions including roles in such Shakespearean plays as ''Romeo and Juliet'', ''Hamlet'', and ''A Midsummer Night's Dream''. It wasn't long before he was bit by the acting bug. In June 1917, during World War I, Rennie enrolled in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and became a part of the University of Toronto's Officers Training Company; while involved in this he and other officers would put on their own productions to show to the general public. James Rennie (c. 1826–1924) was a Scottish professional golfer who played in the late 19th century. Rennie had three top-10 finishes in the Open Championship, his best effort being fifth in the 1875 Open Championship. Early life Rennie was born in Scotland circa 1826. Golf career 1875 Open Championship The 1875 Open Championship was the 15th Open Championship, held 10 September at Prestwick Golf Club in Prestwick, South Ayrshire, Scotland. Willie Park, Sr. won the Championship by two strokes from runner-up Bob Martin. Willie Park, who had won the first Championship in 1860, equalled Tom Morris, Jr.'s record of four Championship wins. ''Under the Dome'' is an American science-fiction mystery drama television series. It premiered on CBS on June 24, 2013, and concluded on September 10, 2015. The series was developed by Brian K. Vaughan and based on Stephen King's 2009 novel of the same name. ''Under the Dome'' tells the story of the residents of the fictional small town of Chester's Mill, when a massive, transparent, indestructible dome suddenly cuts them off from the rest of the world.
