James Perkins (businessman)
James Perkins is a British businessman, and for 14 years the owner of Aynhoe Park, a 17th-century country estate in Aynho, Northamptonshire, before it was bought by the American company RH (company), RH. Perkins grew up in Cheltenham. In the 1990s, he ran series rave music events as a co-founder of the Fantazia (rave music promoter), Fantazia brand and later record label, before becoming a property developer. He now lives at Parnham Park, Dorset, which has been open to the public since summer 2021. He is married to Sophie, and they have three children. James Alfred Perkins
James Alfred Perkins (October 11, 1911 – August 19, 1998) was the seventh president of Cornell University, from 1963 to 1969. Biography Perkins was born in 1911 in Philadelphia, graduated with honors in 1934 from Swarthmore College, and received a doctorate in political science from Princeton University in 1937. At Swarthmore, Perkins joined the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and played varsity football alongside his classmate, DU brother and future 1972 Nobel Prize laureate Christian B. Anfinsen. From 1937 to 1941 he was a faculty member at Princeton. After service in the Office of Price Administration and the Foreign Economic Administration during World War II, he was vice president of Swarthmore from 1945 to 1950. James Ashbrook Perkins is Professor Emeritus of English and Public Relations at Westminster College, New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, where he became a faculty member in 1973 and was department chair from 2000 to 2005. Education Perkins earned his BA from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, in 1963, an MA from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1965, and a PhD from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1972. He was born in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Rochester, where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall, in 1867. James Woodbury Perkins, Jr., (September 16, 1840August 18, 1892) was an American businessman and Republican politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Adams and Marquette counties in the 1885 and 1887 sessions. As a young man, he served in the Union Army through the entire American Civil War. Biography James W. Perkins, Jr., was born in Warner, New Hampshire, on September 16, 1840. He received an academic education and moved to Wisconsin in 1857, settling at New Chester, in Adams County. At the outbreak of the American Civil War, Perkins volunteered for service in the Union Army. On September 6, 1861, he was enrolled as a private in Company H of the 11th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. With the 11th Wisconsin Infantry, he participated in the fighting in the western theater of the war, and was involved in several of the important battles of the Vicksburg campaign. James "Soup" Perkins
James "Soup" Perkins (1879–1911) was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of former slaves. He and his entire family were involved in horse racing, training, and working in the stables. Perkins was the second youngest jockey ever to win the Kentucky Derby and the winningest jockey in America in 1895. At the peak of his career he earned $10,000 per year, the equivalent of $346,000 in 2022 US dollars and was written about in newspapers throughout the United States and Canada. He died at the age of thirty-three from a massive heart attack while working in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
