James Nicolson (bishop)
James Nicolson (1557–1607) was Bishop of Dunkeld in 1607. Life He was born in Cupar in central Fife in 1557 the second son of James Nicolson, a local burgess, and his wife, Margaret Philip. He spent most of his life in north Perthshire. He was ordained as minister of Cortachy in 1580 and translated to Meigle parish church in 1583 and demitted this post in April 1607 when he was appointed Bishop of Dunkeld.Fasti Ecclesiastae Scoticana by Hew Scott. He received a grant of a pension of £60 per annum on 6 February 1571, from Robert, Bishop of Caithness, payable from the Priory of St Andrews, "becaus he hes bene twyis schorne of the stane, and is continewallie vexit with that infirmitie". He was a prominent man in the Church of Scotland soon after the Reformation, and was minister of Cortachy in 1580, and Meigle in 1583. James Brindley Nicolson
Wing Commander Eric James Brindley Nicolson, (29 April 1917 – 2 May 1945) was a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force and a recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Early life Eric James Brindley Nicolson was born in Hampstead, London, on 29 April 1917, and was educated at Yardley Court and Tonbridge School. In 1935 Nicolson began work as an engineer at Ricardo Engines. In 1936 he joined the Royal Air Force, with the service number 39329. After his training he joined No. 72 Squadron in 1937 and later moved to No. 249 Squadron in 1940. Second World War Nicolson was 23 years old and a flight lieutenant in No. 249 Squadron during the Second World War when he was awarded the Victoria Cross. James Nicolson (priest)
James Nicolson (1832–1889) was a Scottish cleric, Dean of Brechin from 1874 until his death on 25 January 1889. Nicolson was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School, went on to Marischal College, Aberdeen and was ordained in 1857. His first post was Curate at St Mary Magdalene, Dundee and Chaplain to the Bishop of Brechin. He assisted David Greig's mission work in Dundee. Jamie Nicolson
James Neil Nicolson (9 November 1971 – 28 February 1994) was an Australian boxer. He won a bronze medal at the 1989 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Moscow and a bronze medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland, before competing at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Nicolson turned professional later in 1992, and held a record of 7–1 prior to his death. From Yatala, Queensland, Nicolson was born to a Scottish-born father, Allan, originally from Glasgow. His sister Skye, who was born the year after her brothers' deaths, was a bronze medallist at the 2016 World Amateur Championships and a gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Death On 28 February 1994, Nicolson was killed, along with his 10-year-old brother Gavin, in a traffic collision on the Pacific Highway in Helensvale, Gold Coast.
