James Nagle (hurler)
Jamie Nagle (born 26 October 1990) is an Irish hurler who plays for club side Midleton. He is a former member of the Cork senior hurling team. Career A member of the Midleton club, Nagle first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels while simultaneously playing with Midleton CBS in the Harty Cup. After captaining Midleton to the Cork U21HC title in 2011, he later won a Cork SHC title in 2013. Around this time Nagle also won consecutive Fitzgibbon Cup titles with University College Cork. He later linked up with the Midleton intermediate team. Nagle first appeared on the inter-county scene during an unsuccessful two-year stint with the Cork under-21 hurling team. He made his senior team debut in the pre-season Waterford Crystal Cup in 2010 and was included on the championship panel the following year. Midleton GAA
Midleton Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Midleton in County Cork, Ireland. The club plays in the Imokilly division of Cork GAA. History The concept of a Gaelic Athletic Association was first mooted in 1883 when a sub-committee of the Irish Republican Brotherhood was formed with the ideal of creating a National Athletic body. Midleton man, P.N Fitzgerald was one of the committee members who eventually set up the Gaelic Athletic Association and thus Midleton's love affair and commitment to the G.A.A. was established. The club was formally affiliated to the association, when at the third meeting of the fledgling organisation, held in Thurles on 17 January 1885; Jeremiah J Coffey formally registered the club as Midleton Football club. Fitzgibbon Cup
The Fitzgibbon Cup ( ga, Corn Mhic Giobúin) is the trophy for the premier hurling championship among higher education institutions (universities, colleges and institutes of technology) in Ireland. The Fitzgibbon Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. Comhairle Ard Oideachais also oversees the Ryan Cup (tier 2 hurling championship), the Fergal Maher Cup (tier 3 hurling championship) and the Padraig MacDiarmada (tier 4 hurling championship). The GAA Higher Education Cups are sponsored by Electric Ireland. 2013 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 2013 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 125th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment in 1887. The championship began on 26 March 2013 and ended on 3 November 2013. Sarsfield's were the defending champions and made it all the way to the final, however, they were defeated by Midleton on a 2–15 to 2–13 score line. Pre-championship Sarsfield's were installed as the early favourites to retain the title for a fourth time in six years and put back-to-back titles together for the first time in their history. The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league.
