James John Miles
James John Miles (born 1959) is a retired Professor of Computer Engineering in the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester where he previously was head of the school and a member of the Nano Engineering & Storage Technology Research Group (NEST). Education Miles graduated with a first class honours degree in Physics from the University of Liverpool in 1980. Following this he completed a Master of Science in Computational physics from the University of Salford in 1987 and PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Manchester in 1990. Research Miles has worked at the Meteorological Office modelling the formation of storm clouds and completed research in novel anaesthetic delivery systems for BOC Medishield, now Datex Ohmeda. James Albert Miles (1871 – 1953) was a senior inspector of schools in Western Australia in the early 20th century. During the early decades of the 20th century, the district school in Duke Street, Toodyay played an important part in the history of education in Western Australia. This was due to the influence of James Miles, an educational reformer who selected Toodyay as a "country observation school", and to be a prototype for the type of school he believed should be established in rural areas. As a result of his influence Toodyay achieved a number of firsts in Western Australia: the first country observation school, the first consolidated school, the first in the Special Rural Schools programme, and the first to establish what became the Parents and Citizens Association. James Earl "Boobie" Miles Jr. (born April 16, 1970) is a former high school football running back for Permian High School, and was a primary subject in the book '' Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream'' by H.G. Bissinger, and the movie inspired by the book. He attended Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. Miles is a major figure in Bissinger's book as one of the top high school runningbacks in Texas. He was sought by dozens of top college football schools, but his promising career was derailed by a knee injury. James Edward Miles (born August 19, 1967) is an American Outlaw Country musician, singer and songwriter. He is best known for co-writing and recording the patriotic song "Country Born, American Made" and for his performances at the Waylon Jennings Fest in Whiteface, Texas. Early life Jimmy Miles was born in Winfield, Alabama, to used car salesman, Larry Gene Miles, and factory worker Barbara Ann Lockhart.
