James Meehan (surveyor)
James Meehan (1774 – 21 April 1826) was an Irish Australian explorer and surveyor. Meehan was born in Ireland, in Shinrone, County Offaly, in 1774. He was declared a rebel and given a life sentence in a trial after the Rebellion of 1798 and was one of a number of political prisoners who arrived in Australia on the ''Friendship'' in February 1800. He came under the assumed name James Mahon. Two months later he became an assistant to Charles Grimes, the surveyor-general, and went with him to explore the Hunter River in 1801. He was also with Grimes on the expedition to explore King Island and Port Phillip in the summer of 1802–3. Grimes had a leave of absence from August 1803 to go to England, and during his absence for about three years, Meehan did much of his work with the title of assistant-surveyor. James Meehan (lumberman)
James Meehan (July 7, 1834 – April 9, 1920) was an American lumberman from Meehan, Wisconsin, who served one term as a " Greenback Democrat" member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from Portage County, Wisconsin. Background Meehan was born July 7, 1834, in the Parish of Ste. Catherine in Canada East. He received a common school education and became a lumberman. He moved to Wisconsin, first to Honey Creek in Sauk County, then to Grand Rapids, and finally in 1867 to the Town of Linwood in Portage County. James Leo Meehan (1891 – 1943) was an American film director and screenwriter.Munden p. 411 He married the daughter of writer Gene Stratton-Porter, and adapted several of his mother-in-law's novels for the screen. He directed ''Campus Sweethearts'' (US 1930 RKO, 27 min, only shown at State Lake, Chicago - Natural Vision also shown in 35 mm) starring Rudy Vallee with Ginger Rogers among the cast. Jim Meehan
James Michael Meehan (March 19, 1952 – December 6, 2018), sometimes known as Minneapolis Jim Meehan, was an American professional poker player from Burnsville, Minnesota. Prior to his poker career, Meehan worked as a lawyer for many years. Meehan began playing poker in the 1960s, and began playing poker tournaments regularly in 1997, when he had a second-place finish in the $3,000 limit hold'em event at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). He finished third in the $2,500 limit Omaha event at the 1999 WSOP. He eventually won a WSOP bracelet in 2003 in the $2,000 no limit hold'em event, defeating a final table that included Juha Helppi, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Sexton and Kathy Liebert. He also won a World Championship of Online Poker bracelet that same year in the $500 Buy In Limit Holdem event, besting a field of almost 700.
